Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
ksjh1316, your's looks a little more straighter...
Of course all vehicles have some type of sentimental attachment to their family, so I think they are looking at this truck as having owned it since they bought it brand new, and it was a part of their everyday life. But... eventually you need to realize that it's just rusting away! For those in MO, or if you've ever been through Vienna, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. There's a '67 or '68, my mind left me, that is sitting in front of a shop, patina look w/ bed logos, and the guy is going to get to it... yeah right!!!

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
With all the rust, less than $500. Could be cool, but the cab is a total loss and the bedsides are pretty beat. I wonder if the frame may be hurt after all those years working on the farm.

I think 500 is more then enough in its current condition. Myself I think more like 3ish might go 4 if your already attached.

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
It`s a wonderful old gem of a truck and worth all the effort to restore. But,it`s just haulit off material if you ask me.I`d give him a C-note just because it`s better than nothing. It`s worth more crushed, but it costs money and is work to haul there. So,for $100 or nothing you`re saving him the trouble.`Course,he prolly doesn`t mind letting it sit.Guys are paying as much as $200 to haul junk vehicles off around here.If he`s aware of high scrap value,I`d go that much. The truck needs "everything".

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
While it is a cool looking truck, and a short bed, it does look like it needs all the sheet metal replaced. It will probably scrap for about $300-350. Looks like too much work if you ask me. You asked for opinions!!!
It would be cool to just get it running and driving with the patina look though!!! Ok, ok, How much??????

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Nice try GRIMSS...
Okay guys... you inquired to the asking price for this truck..... I hope you're sitting down.... $1,000 Now, here's what I didn't get, aside from the price. In talking with him, I asked what he would want for the truck, $1000, but then he said that they have been hauling stuff to the scrapper lately and the truck would bring $350. So.... why not sell it to me for $350 and make both of us happy! I haven't called him back yet, as I'm letting him think things over for a little while and then offer him what the truck is actually worth ($250-400 range), and see if he bites. The other issue with purchasing this truck would be that it's located about 4 hours away, so there's another $150+ in gas alone. Joesjunk/special-K/Number98, I asked for your honest opinion, and I'm glad that you didn't hold back, especially your opinions; your opinions are valued a lot on this board by many other members. The body work is what really scares me. I figure the patina/dents/dings wouldn't really keep it from driving, but the rust on the bottom/top of the cab would. With the new body panels available it wouldn't take a whole lot to get a solid floor/mounts under it. bigdon-70blazer... that's kind of what I was thinking. Descisions, decisions, but I do have the ok from the wife, so that's one hurdle cleared. And she's even seen the pics...

Nate,... I just saw this truck. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=294977. I know it's not a big window '67 Custom,... but for $500 more it's a better deal. The Patina is there too.

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Nice catch Keith! I hope that someone will pick that up as a whole, rather than parting it out, but the economy will probably put a hold on that.
Man... I thought there would be a lot more of a response to the guys asking price... I'm going to hold out until Saturday or Sunday to give him a call back and see how it goes. Anyone know what scrap for a complete truck would bring? Is $350 about right?

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Well I can tell you this. scrap price here is 11.50 per hundred pounds. truck probally weighs roughlly 3500-3600 complete. so do the math and you have 402.50 to 414.

I couldn't agree more leddzepp...
Thanks for the figures BarryB, that will give me a better idea on where to start pricing it at when I call him back. I think it will probably be more of a hassle than it's worth, so when he says sorry I can't accept, I'll say great! If I decide to pass I'll release the contact information to anyone that might be interested.

Re: WIW: '67 SWB All Original (1 owner)
Okay guys... I finally called the owner back and told him that I couldn't purchase the truck with his $1,000 asking price. After talking with him a bit more I asked what he would have to have for the truck, and he said, "well, I can scrap it out for $300-350."
So I said, "would you take $300, and keep the truck alive rather than having it crushed?" He said, "Nope!" WTF??? People are kind of crazy when it comes to old vehicles and the price the want to receive. I will post up some more pics later this weekend of the doors and the logos on the doors. If someone else would like to take a crack at purchasing this truck, pm me. Thanks to all those that replied to my WIW thread... to bad it didn't end up the way I planned.
