Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
Well he is showing us and the quality looks good to me
Just take your time and color sand and buff everything before it goes back together and you will be very surprised what can be done at home. Truck looks great so far now just keep it up and don't get burnt out. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
Guys,
I have seen Wynne's work and he is real good. This truck will be nice. Wynne, I don't think your truck would have that bottom trim on the tailgate. I know the 71 and 72 Custom Deluxe trucks had it even if it had the big tailgate trim but I have never seen it on a Cheyenne or a Super regardless. I'm not sure if a CST had it or not but I doubt it. Maybe someone else will pipe in.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
Thanks guys. I've been doing bodywork and paint as a hobby for a long time, but am still learning. It's tough to do show quality work without a booth, but like you said, Rokcrln, it can be buffed, it just takes a little more elbow grease. Kevin(65streetcruiser) helps me out alot. He's been doing it professionally for many years, and knows his stuff.
I've been wondering about that trim piece for a long time Mike. My guess was that it was for two tone trucks without the wide band, but I have seen several with both, so I don't know.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
Hey Wynne,
When you get ready to shoot it try and time for a weekend where Kevin and I can come help you. I think this is what you are planning to do when we shoot mine. The more help you have the easier it is if nothing else to help haul parts around.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
I'll do that Mike. I hope that I can get it sprayed this summer. Right now I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to, but you never know what might come up.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
I've gotten a little bit done lately. I finished my fenders and got the backsides painted, so I decided to assemble the front cap for a test fit. I'm glad that I did, because I had to make some adjustments to the cowl.
I decided to fill the gas filler neck hole, so I welded in one infanti's pre-cut plates, and I also had a place below it on the cab that was welded in the wrong place, so I drilled out the spot welds and moved it. My cell phone pics don't show it very well, but it was worse than it looks.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
I wish that I had more, but I haven't been able to work on it much lately. I picked up a couple of wheels/tires, but I'm undecided on them. I'll make a decision when I get it switched to 5 lug and can see them on the truck.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
Time for an update. I decided to fill the speaker holes in my doors so I cut out some sheetmetal and welded them up. Also, the Fast & firm seam sealer that I put in the drip rail was seperating from the metal some, so I decided to re-do it too. This time I used Fusor two part seam sealer.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
I picked up another set of wheels so I decided to go ahead and change everything to factory five lug and add some drop components. I put 4" drop springs in the rear, added a adjustable track bar, new shocks & shock mounts, new trailing arm bushings, axles, drums, wheels(17x9.5 TT2s, 5.5 BS) and tires(275/50 Fusions). I still have the front to do later. Next came the FCG tank install.

Re: HuggerCST's '70 SWB CST build
After alot of sanding & lining up doors, fenders, & the hood, I was off to get some paint. I wanted the good stuff, so that set me back a chunk of change, lol, but I got some paint sprayed on the front half last weekend and I think it was worth the money. Hopefully I can spray the bed this weekend.

The truck looks great! Your definitely on the home stretch. Can you pull some measurements for me on the white stripe? I don't have any holes to go by, so if you could measure off of the lower body line that would be great. Take care. Rob
