Re: What a difference a year makes!

Man that's nice! I would post up some of my project from last year and current...but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You've made some nice progress.

Re: What a difference a year makes!

Very nice truck. When I first got into these trucks I didn't like that color much but it has grown on me to the point that it is now one of my favorite colors. Looks great on your truck and I too like those rims.

I did some of the paint work. I have a buddy who I went to school with who is a body man. He mixed up some paint for me for the inside and I painted the inside of the cab, back side of fenders, firewall and hood with single stage while it was apart. Then I reassembled it and took it to him so he could shoot the outside with base/clear. He just this week got the bed done for me, that's still sitting on the trailer, so I hope to have that back on the frame next week some time. I'll post more pics then.

thanks for all the complements guys. I appreciate it.

Hard to believe how good that color looks when it's shiny

Re: What a difference a year makes!

very nice, I like the clean original look.... good job

just noticed that your exhaust hangs a little low, is that the plan or was it installed prior to the bed and getting adjusted?

Re: What a difference a year makes!

thanks
ya it was installed before the bed was on. The pic is a little deceiving, it's a little low but not as bad as it looks in the pic. It's a duel exhaust kit I bought and the way they were made they come out just under the springs. There is not much room for adjustment so that may be on my list of things to tweak.

Re: What a difference a year makes!

so what exactly s that ppg color code? I ordered a '504 - 2097 Medium Olive" (original color) online. It's got a bit more yellow in it than what it should be. The can actually said "69 Green - Yellow" with the same code. It looked right, but once sprayed (did the firewall and interior) I could see the difference.
Was it common for the same colors to just have name changes between different years?

Re: What a difference a year makes!

This is not an exact match to the original medium olive. It's just a touch off but it is very close. My buddy brought out about 500 color chips of current ppg color codes and that's how we found it. The code is 415570. There is a small 1/8" ribbon on the inside of my glove box around the spid label where I masked it off and I can see the difference there but that's it. I painted the whole truck inside and out so I figured since I was not trying to match the color on another body part it would be ok for me.
Not sure about name changes, I think that some of the colors between gmc and chevy were the same, just different names in the same year but I don't know about in different years.

I like how the lockouts just blend in with the center caps. Truck looks awesome.

Re: What a difference a year makes!

Thanks for all the comments guys
Well she's pretty well done. I know that not all parts are original or correct for my truck but I'm happy with how it turned out. Now for the fun-- driving it!

Re: What a difference a year makes!

I like it...

I also like the black interior with the green. I'm changing mine to all black like yours and have a Dark green truck. I'm hoping it isn't to dark inside. Mine was originally silver panels, pads etc...

ps, I think you should add some cab lights too!

Re: What a difference a year makes!

Thanks Mike
I know, I thought long and hard about adding cab lights. I still might, I just want to enjoy driving it for a while first.

Your truck looks great. It's going to cause a lot of turkey necking.
