My opinion is that he would have said that he wanted to sell them before he talked about a price.

I told someone on a deal that I got, and they still bought them for fair market value.

I was interested in how great of a "yard sale find" he actually got too. not that big of a deal I guess...

Then if it was me I'd fib about what I paid.

Re: Yard sale find

Take it easy guys. I don't care if you know what I paid for them. It really doesn't matter because I'll ask market price for them --or keep them and hang them on the shop wall.

Re: Yard sale find

Not trying to stir this anymore but why should anyone think just because a person gets a good deal on something and flips it the good price should be passed on? By that theory all the used car dealers would go out of business (not that I'm defending them).

I'm a firm believer that its not what something is worth but how much someone is willing to pay for it.

Either way, Ilike 72's, you still made a great deal and should be pretty proud of that find!

P.S. I kind of like knowing what other people pay for parts and stuff just to judge how much I should pay for things I buy used. I appreciate all you folks that divulge your info. It really helps us that are green to haggling over this 'junk'

Re: Yard sale find

Easy guys.....if he didn't want to tell us that's fine. I for one was curious and I see absolutely no harm in asking, just like I see no harm in him refusing or complying with the requests.

I did tell ya in post #14. I was happy to pay $150 for them. I thought I did good. It didn't take me long to get the 4 bolts out--seats out--loaded and I was gone. I even forgot the 4 bolts. Ya know -- it comes down to the fact that some of these truck parts are getting harder to find, and when you do find some thing like this, you better act fast. Thats what I did. Although I don't know what I'll do with them. But don't we all have parts we have that we don't need?

Re: Yard sale find

Heck, I gave a guy a complete TRUCK for a set of those once.
If it was a trade-secret, then he would have posted:
"Look what I picked up today. I don't need them, but picked them up to pass along to a anyone who does. I am asking $???.00 for them."
Just like finding an AM/FM for $15 at a garage sale. I would tell EVERYONE. (And most times someone will PM you an offer if they really want it)

So if you keep them, great find man.
If you sell them, great as well.

It's best to buy parts when you find them, instead of when you need them. Then they're expensive.

Re: Yard sale find

I have found three parts like that at a good price... paid $65 for them and resold everything for about $1,000... Those are the deals that make you love to hunt junkyards...
