Re: I would have taken the Money

I saw this truck at the Dallas Autorama. It was called JALAPENO and the owner stated it was built by Stoked out. I know the owner owned a Silk Screening business at the time....

Call me picky, but for $80,000+ dollars, you would think of better placement of the filler neck than with the truck bed down. One ill-timed or hasty "pullout" and whoever owns it is gonna be cleaning gas off his $80,000 paintjob....

It surprises me that nobody noticed that the engine is sitting in the 6 cylinder spot. I amazes me when people drop that kind of dough into something and don't go the extra mile to place the engine correctly. WES

If memory serves me right the truck was about 85% done when Stoked Out got it, they just finished it up, and changed a few things. Stoked Out does top notch work.

Ya that first auction was horrendous. I got "yelled" at here b/c I said something about his spelling/grammar.

I still think it's a nice truck. But you guys are right, some stuff was left out. The more I look at the pics, the more things I see. I mean, some things are not my preference, but they work. But no flywheel cover for 80k+?? Come on. I still would not kick it out of my garage...

BTW, can you explain to me about the six-cylinder position? Is if farther back? What are the tell-tale signs? I'm sure I could search it here, but I'm too lazy today.

Re: I would have taken the Money

well its a nice truck but now where near 80k. You would think for that price you would get some type of custom suspension, custom frame for even tubular a arms, heck it still has the factory tranny crossmember.

120k?? Ok well someone has more money then sense. I love my trucks...but I wouldn't put that much into both of them. Trophy's are nice...but not 120k nice.

Re: I would have taken the Money

Fact: The truck was not "built" @ Stoked Out. The owner bought the truck from a body shop owner that decided to finish his Camaro and needed the cash. The only thing that SOS did was the interior, add the Baer brakes, wheels and tires and make a few changes in motor compartment. I'm not trying to start anything but I just want to make sure that the credit or other comments are pointed to the rightful owners (so to speak). Oh....and all the components came with the truck so they worked with what they had.......I understand that some things would have been different but that still a personal choice issue....

Re: I would have taken the Money

n2billet, i dont think people have any questions or negative comments in the quality of works that stoked out has done, everything i have seen that stoked out has done looks like really good work. The main issue that i have with this truck is the price amount his asking for a rather stockish coustom truck.

If this guy spent 120,000 to build this truck then he wasted alot of money, you can build something of this quality for a heck of alot less.

Re: I would have taken the Money

I gotta be honest.... Yes you can pick things apart on this truck if you want... I build my own cars and trucks and know what it costs to build something like that truck... If you are paying somebody to build it you could easily have $120 grand in it... Check around with high end body shops... You can easily spend 20 to 30 grand on paint, body mods and body work.... Then lets look at the wheels and tires, engine, trans, interior, and all the other things that it took to create this beautiful truck... It is nicer than most trucks on this forum and it just keeps getting slammed and slammed again.... My truck would be down the road to make room for this one in my garage... Stock control arms or not....

That is the point I was trying to make. If you can do the work yourself, then 120k or even 80 k seems high. But if you pay a shop to build your truck for you, then you will pay out the rear. Don't forget that they charge you for the time researching and finding/ordering parts, plus the shops mark up on parts (Not directing this at Stoked out Specialties, just a general shop reference). Most high end shops charge 100.00 per hour, and show quality paint jobs can get way up into the 30k range. Heck, I wanted to get someone to paint my completely stripped interior of the cab, doors, and jam it, with no windows and no taping necessary. THe range I have gotten for a driver paint job is 700- 1000 for interior alone!!!! not even including the floor (bedliner material put on the floor). I was figuring 300- 350. Guess I was wrong!!! My point is that this is a very nice truck and we can pick anything apart, partly because there are a lot of "experts" on here with these trucks, but also because a little bit of jealousy is involved. Park that thing in my garage any day and I would be tickled pink.

i like it.. not enough ot pny up 80,000, but i like it.. but if i had 80,000 i i know i could build one heck of a truck with me and friends doing most of the work. just farming out the paint and body work... but it would look good in my future garage never the less.. lol

Correctly for who? Maybe they put the motor exactly where they wanted it. Not factory correct, but correct for them no?

Re: I would have taken the Money

I dont know guys. For 120,000.00...I can build one hell of a truck. Its going to cost me 3800.00 to just do the cab. Thats replacing every last nut bolt and screw in it. Since I have everything to paint with...add 300 to 400 more. For the 120 I wouldnt have a small block...I would have a 572R, 720 HP from the factory. Thats only 14,000.00. Ad another 3500.00 for a blower. Since I already have a Muncie 4 speed...M-21...rebuild it...500. Rebuild the 12 bolt. Every last nut bolt and screw replaced in the suspension and frame. I still dont see where I would go over 40,000.00 if I had that kind of money. Now if I was to let someone else build me truck...then I would see where the money would go that high. How can you go and let someone else do your truck and still can it yours...and be proud of what you didnt do?

WAIT!! It's an XXL!!! The tailgate doesn't have a handle flip kit. If it was a MED, and the tailgate handle was flipped, I'd like it better.

I guess my valve covers will have to read "XS", if that truck is an XXL.

It looks good, to me. But at that price....it's made out of Unafordium, and I don't even know where to begin trying to find the elusive material. Maybe the Lotterius Winnus person has it......
