Re: those of us that are riding 20s

I thought they made them here, I guess I won't be buying any. Damn, who makes nice 20" 5 spokes here in the U.S.A.? I don't mind paying a little more to support our own economy.

Intro, Billet Specialties, Boyd Coddington (although some don't like the quality), Colorado Custom, Budnik, BAD, Bonspeed, and I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting.

Unfortunately prices are more than just a 'little more' for most of these vs. Coys.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

I think the Coys are the best deal on the market. They look awsome and are reasonably priced. You can get a whole set for the price of 1 Forgeline or Boze. I want the best bargin for my money personally. It may be good for the economy to buy American made But Coys is a American Company that uses overseas manufacturers to keep the costs down. And if thats a problem than you'll want to change 75% of your truck since GM farms out alot of work to foreign companys. I would rather have the extra money in my wallet.

Yep... I would rather use products made in the USA. But, for a driver (especially one that's already had 2 theft attempts), it's just not cost effective to spend $3K+ on rolling stock. If I could have found a similar priced wheel w/the as-cast looking center here, I would have considered it.

Those that won't use any foreign products will need to stay away from all the re-pop sheet-metal, most (if not all) the trim, rubber, etc......

You will need to become a recluse and make everything you use for yourself. Like it or not, almost everything you eat, drink, wear, drive, or ride has some portion of it manufactured in another country. If it is manufactured in the USA, it's probably by an American branded company that is owned by foreign investors.

As proud as I am to be an American, it's nearly impossible to buy USA only products these days.

Re: those of us that are riding 20s

I know Centerlines are American made. They are one of the cheapest forged wheels out there. My 20's only weigh 22 in front and 24 in the rear.

The only problem is they leave much to be desired on their choices compared to others (& as far as I've seen, they don't offer a traditional 5-spoke or 'slots' style wheel @ decent prices).

Just cuz there made in America doesn't mean that the materials they are made out of or with (things that are concitered consumable waste, foundry equiptment, release agents, Aluminum, ect.) are made here. Everything has a foreign touch somewhere. And if your set on buying only American made products those rims you get are going to ride very rough with no tires on them. I seem to recall that most of the rubber in the USA comes from South America. and a large portion of the tires are made in Asia.
