I'm using a 1975 F*rd F-150 tank straps and sending unit is what I'm using, no pics yet just waiting on my sending unit.

What are you going to use for a gauge. The f*&d Sending unit wont work with Chevy gauges.

The blazer tank from the Gov. surplus and new sending unit from the parts store, cut hole in bed floor and fill from there. You can get all kinds of creative with the hole in the bed floor. I used galvanized strap like they use to tie down mobile homes, made "J" bolts and on my way I went. Maybe out $130 ish..

I'm using my stock gauge and a sending unit is a sending unit, they all work the same. Though when on empty its not on the empty line on my gauge but its like a line off, same as full.

No, not necessarily. If yours works, you got lucky matching it up. GM sending units typically use the 0 (empty)-90 (full) ohm range. Others use 0-30 ohms, 16-158 ohms, 240-33 ohms, 73 (empty)-10 (full) ohms (typical Ford), etc.

make sure you get the right ohm rated gauge if buying aftermarket, this is how I got schooled on it.

Thus the reason for buying the blazer tank and factory type sender. IMO, the easiest thing to do is the blazer tank and sender. The gauge is dead on and a semi will have to hit me in the arse to touch the tank.

Or for free you could just pull the tank from inside, and put against the front wall of the bed. Drill a hole on the bed floor to run your fuel line, and there ya go. Wouldn't need the fuel cell, the sender would still work, No filler issues, and free.

Just kidding. I have seen this done, and it works. But I did the blazer tank on my truck. It's been the best single upgrade I've done. $200, and worth every penny.

yeah there's this really really nice 67-68 out here its like a metallic blue with 20's and its a beautiful truck and he has his stock tank mounted in the bed

Look at the frames. Your pickup and a Blazer are identical. I bought a Blazer tank from a junk yard with cross members and fill tube for 60 bucks. They cannot sell tanks so they are usually happy to get rid of them. I got one from a 85 that didn't have FI and u will need a fuel guage for a newer Chevy.
