Re: 68 Chevy on 22's

After months of B.S. happening including my dealership closing i am finally able to start buying parts for my truck again. I picked up this shell of a truck for $150 to get the dash and ended up getting a few extra sellable parts also including a pair of flowmaster mufflers and a flex-a-lite electric fan.

That dash is cool looking....

Dealership closing?
Which manufacturer did you work for?
I am in the automotive business also (Dealerships) they continue to predict more dealers closing...

Since you're in Florida i'm sure you heard of it. I worked at Bill Heard Chevrolet in Scottsdale,AZ. There have been 6 other dealers in PHX area that have closed since Sept last year.

Great looking project!

Quick question... in the first pictures posted in your thread, what tires were on the rollers (front/rear)?

Thanks for the compliment.
I got the bed test fit on it, just need to trim some more and make the mounts. I plan on driving it next week some time once the rest of my parts show up.

Yeah I read about your dealerships closing in Automotive News...what dept did you work in? I guess by your skills you might have come from service or parts? I worked for GM in the mid 80's then I went to work for
Toyota got some grief from friends but it has been the best thing I ever did.

your project is coming along very nice. Keep up the great work and I am suscribed....

I did used car recon, accessories, lift kits and body shop mechanical. It ended up being a good thing since i am on my own now. Little rough sometimes but i like it much better.

That sucks about the cadillac store, we got lucky that we had 2 weeks to get all of our stuff out, i heard some of the other stores locked people out for days.

Re: 68 Chevy on 22's

we just had four dealerships closed in the last month a jeep chrysler, a chevy store, a dodge store and a ford store...From what I heard the employees had weeks notice and some of them got nice amounts of money for sticking it out thru the end....it is awesome that you are doing good for your self. I worry about it everyday but I have faith that we will weather the storm...

Re: 68 Chevy on 22's

With the front all the way up and the back down the actual tank is about 6 inches off the ground. As long as i don't hit anything major the mounting tubes will protect it pretty good.

Finall got my fans mounted and got to drive the stupid thing today, strange feeling since i never drove the truck even when i bought it.

Re: 68 Chevy on 22's

Great project, I really like the fabbed frame.

Sad to say the Bill Heard Chevrolet franchise in Huntsville really hung their people out to dry. Employees came back from lunch one Friday to find the dealership padlocked, no paychecks, and they were given two hours to clear out.

Re: 68 Chevy on 22's

I finally got some time to work on the truck and some parts. I have been driving it for about a week now. One is the truck with the hood on the other is the new tie rods with heims on both ends, tapped for left and right threads so they're adjustable like a regular tie rod.
