Re: 71 cheyenne super
That's what I was thinking but it is still a very nice looking truck purchase at a very good price. Some of these trucks had odd ball color combo's (mine is Dark Olive/Med. Olive) and unusual factory options combinations. Options can always be installed at a later date.

Here's how it probably looked like, at least for the paint:

Re: 71 cheyenne super
Acutally, that's the exact OG color scheme, I can tell on mine in different spots where the ****ty paint job has faded or flaked... and I thought I would HATE the color combo and had decided on the Med Olive / White two tone like the picture I posted earlier on in this thread, but I kind of like this look for some strange reason. I don't like the interior, but mine has white seat, white door panels, and white visors which were supposedly OG... hmmm...
now i just need to figure out what offset's i need for 15x6 vette rallys up front and 15x10 vette rallys out back... Last edited by kursed; 01-02-2009 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: 71 cheyenne super
It's a beauty - a real diamond in the not-so-rough.
Not to point a finger, but: From the looks of it (hard to tell for sure) somebody may have forgotten to put a cotter pin in the castellated (notched) nut on the bottom of the drop spindle, as shown in the photo. Better check on that one, to keep from possibly tearing that nice truck (& the driver & family) up pretty badly. EDIT: Sorry ------------ I'm wrong, it's there. Should have looked closer, before I typed. Last edited by 68shortstep; 01-02-2009 at 07:29 PM. |

Re: 71 cheyenne super
Are the old coils in good shape?
Pictures? I'm looking for a donation of rear stock coils, as tall as possible, I'll pay the freight. Your truck seemed pretty tall, stock... Mick |

Re: 71 cheyenne super
Uh, you'll no doubt be looking for some patch panels for that one or new doors. Hey that wood rimmed wheel looks just like a Grant wheel I had back in the 70's on my first truck. I sure liked that one. Hotrod rallys are a good choice too.

Re: 71 cheyenne super
I thought all cheyenne supers had A/C and an 8 track stero? Also the hood bowtie is incorrect for a 71, so shes had hoods swapped on her, look up the vin on it and it might give you a few clues. Have Fun!

The Cheyenne was the "Trim" package, which I interpret as "How shiney you wanted it" (extra chrome trim and woodgrain etc.) Mine was ordered with the 350 / 3 speed combo, Heavy duty rear springs, and chrome door edge guards. |
