Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

If I did anything, it would a slight drop. A shop logo would hurt the clean loo of your truck IMHO. Whatever you do KEEP THE HUBCAPS if you are not changing wheels!!! Here's a clean, slighty lowered, stock-looking '67 for reference.

If you want a little more hotrod, chopped up look, you could alway get some 8" steelies for the rear like I did my beater truck when you do the drop.

A set of Torq Thrusts and redlines would be absolutely beautiful with your interior (and would match the camaro!).

Here's some more inspiration!

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

I just think a black truck needs some bling...gotta have some chrome, but tastefully done. Bumpers, front and rear.....mirrors, too. The chrome trim for the grille would dress it up. Vette-style rallye wheels, with caps and trim rings (hot rod style) with wheels painted a contrasting color....apple green? A slight drop 2.5/4.0 or maybe a little more...3.5/5.0. Keep the wheel diameter less that/equal to 17", but I'm thinking 15's would have more of a retro look. If you don't want to use the rallye wheels, just throw on some smoothies and bald center caps with rings and some 2 1/2-inch white walls. Still the wheels need to be painted a constrasting color...apple green; rallye red; chrome yellow...not a silver or argent shade. Blue wouldn't work, either. Maybe a chartreuse....like I said, black needs some bling, but not too much or it will be all about the bling, not the black.

personally, I think a mild drop, some nice timeless wheels, and replace the white stuff up front with chrome.
Other than that.... I think it is downright perfect.

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

I guess I'm in the minority.

So what if it's already got a slick paint job? Add whatever 'tasteful' door logo you want. If you ever grow tired of it, simply remove the logo & repaint the doors.

I do feel a shop logo on the doors will beg for a moderate vs. slight altitude adjustment though . . ....

#1 door sign's (already have the theme and designed them just waiting on approval)
#2 lower it 4"rear 2"front
#3 paint the wheel's red no hubcap's with accorn style stainless lugnut's
#4 few other MISC decal's some mooneye's ? here and there

thinking about this pretty hard what do you guy's think ??

I have my 67 RS camaro all original and the 67 C10 is all original so it may be refreshing to have a hotrod custom type for a while ,

I'll make a deal with you. I'll find you a nicely "patina'd" truck out here and we'll do a swap,

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

You want to "work on something" but everything you mentioned would take only a couple weekends to accomplish, then what?

My opinion?

Shop door logo would look REALLY cheesy.

Decals on the body are REALLY REALLY cheesy. A couple small ones on the windows are OK.

2.5/4 drop would look really cool. Spindles up front, springs in the rear, and you can keep the factory stuff to swap back.

Red rims would look cool with some baby moons, 2" beauty rings, and WIDE whites. To me, it wouldn't look as cool with the skinny whites.

Another place to really dress up the truck would be chrome bumpers, front and rear, and chrome grill trim rings and headlight bezels (I think they're actually polished aluminum.)

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

I would bet that at least part of those "shop trucks" started out as new or fairly new trucks...so why not? It would be no different than "restoring" a stock truck...that just happened to start life as a delivery truck for the dealership where it was "sold".

Have you got an idea of a shop name? city? logo of some kind? I am sure I can 'shop something up for it.

I agree. You can bet that most of the REAL shop trucks did start out as new vehicles. Think of a cool logo, have it done professionally and drive your truck for 50 years

Redline tires a little drop and some chrome caps (unless you can find 6 lug tq thrusts or smothies)

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

I know the feeling of needing to always be building something, I am there right now. My truck was in better condition than most I have seen downhere and I still tore it down to upgrade things on it.
I would leave your truck alone and I would buy another and start from scratc h it should keep you busy for a while..

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your hubcaps? I'm looking for a set for my 67 long bed, I'm missing one, but figure it's time to replace the set.

Thanks

deffinetly chrome everything thats white, lower it just a lil, and some 17" chrome wheels and you should be set. It sounds like your already talking yourself into getting a new project. i feel your pain about talking the wife into it though. i'm still fighting that battle.

DO NOT CHROME ALL THE WHITE! It will look like every resto mod out there. The white has to stay its what gives the truck what it has to stand out from the crowd.

Hey, i think it would be cool to see a shinny shop truck, as was said, the way it would hve been back then, like a shop truck restoration. all the others I have seen all have that old aged look of sitting in the sun since 1967. Do what you like, not what others think you should do.
By the way nice camero, i have a 68RS, not quite as original as yours though.

Re: how about a "SHINY" shop truck ?

Since it has such an original look and I think that`s what you like,I have a suggestion to spice it up.I have a plan and by the time I do it,I won`t be the 1st.I`ve already seen things going this way.
With your truck I`d keep it somewhat original,period-correct,with a touch of spice.
1:Lower mildly as you wanted to
2:Keep the wheels and tires.Paint wheels or just lip red and get full wheelcovers. That`s the ole boy way with wheels and tires.Could use the later 69-72s or choise earlier Chevy car ones, like the 15" SS covers,61-66.Those 65-66s look awesome and were popular to swap..
3:Maybe a couple/few choice vintage decals.I`d go for a days gone by Dragstrip decal for sure if nothing else.
4:Red tonneau
5:I`d want split headers and duals out the back, too.

This is something a guy might have done back in this era.Would have been an adult born before WWII in his 30s.The guys that were king of the rod & racing scene in the late 60s/early 70s.
