Re: track times with ls1
That was my old converter.. 7,400 to 5,400.. The added stall speed will help both the 60' and shift extension. It will get you in your power band faster and keep you there.
I noticed that with the old converter, shifting at 7,400 netted the best ET and the new one 7,100 netted the best ET. Both would have come in to the next gear at 5,400-5,500.

Re: track times with ls1
I'm still wondering how it weighs 3,800lbs. Not doubting it, but with a alum LS1 and no power steering, no heater, no front bumper, drag lites ect I was still at 3,840.. I'm wondering if the 67-72's weigh less then my 63 from the factory..

Re: track times with ls1
Grrrrr... I am trying to get this pig to 3,500lbs with me in it for the next time out. I'm assuming these are TH350 or TH400 trucks?

Re: track times with ls1
Ok Ok.. I get the point that you guys with the 67-72 have lighter trucks and now I don't like any of you I am suprised to see that large of a difference between my 63 and your guys's later trucks. I wonder if it's in the cab or the bed or both. I believe the frames are almost the same exact thing. I know my 4L80E ways a ton but the Alum LS1 should make up for it.
Oh well.. Anyone ever weigh there 67-72 beds? I have a game scal and need to pull mine off at some point, mine as well weigh it up..

Re: track times with ls1
That would be interesting to find out how much the bad weighs. Is there any way to weigh a motor?

Re: track times with ls1
My LS1 with an alum intake, electric water pump, alternator, crank pulley weighed in at 400lbs with the engine stand and front motor plate hanging on it.
I have a game scale to weigh things. You can find them on e-bay for a decent price. Just look for the higher weight rated ones.

Re: track times with ls1
If you can find a 99 6.0L, the crank sticks out further in the back so you won't need a special convertor for the t350.

Do you have any video of it leaving? Would like to see what the truck is doing. Best angle would be from the driver rear at like a 45* angle so both the rear and the front can be seen. Also, if you have any white shoe polish, put a stripe on the tire as it helps to see if your spinning of the line. When you say it won't take off hard, is it boging? Where is the verter flashing too? How are you launching it? Stalling it on the foot break? Hitting it off idle? Mine cut the best 60' by brining it to about 1,500 rpm then letting it flash. You have about 1.5mph more than I did in the 1/8 but 3mph less in the 1/4. I find that interesting as well. You are running 3.73's and basically a 30" tall tire which is what I was running last time out. What are you shifting at? You might be loosing the top end mph do to a shift point. I was spinning mine up and riding second through the traps but locking the verter which you don't have that option. My converter showed 7% loss unlocked so, I'm guessing you are probably at around 95mph in second at 6,500rpm, 102mph at 7k in second? If so, 7,400 would get you to 108mph basically shifting just before the end.

I tried 2k,2500k, and 3000k stall on footbrake, none of it mattered. It was not spinning just felt like a lack of power at the hit. I didn't think to look at where it flashed. I was shifting at 7-7200. I guess yours mph better because you can lock the convertor up. |
