Re: "FRAME OFF" Has Begun - Wish Me Luck! - Pics
Ok...Got a bit more done on the chassis....Complete drivetrain is now installed....and got the new 2.25" exhaust fitted and tack welded in place....just need to remove it back out and fully weld the seams...
For those wondering about how I fit the exhaust....I used most of my old exhaust as a template to have a local muffler shop just bend up the identical pieces....the trick was getting it to the new stock manifolds as my old exhaust had full length headers....so you can see in the pic below that I simply made a template out of some skinny round bar and just had them bend me up the pieces to the template I supplied....I did have them add a few inches to each end so that I could trim as needed....And the whole thing actually worked out perfect....I didn't have to go back to have any pieces tweaked at all....I think I got real Lucky.... I should have some pics of the body coming before too long....It's in "Paint Jail"....LOL...and my buddy is just starting on it this week....It's been media blasted and is sitting in epoxy primer.....The bed has been disassembled getting ready for the wood bed conversion that I picked up from Mar-K I also just received the new fuel & brake lines from Inline Tube....so hopefully I will get to installing them in the next week or two.... Carbureator was just sprayed with "Carb Renew" from Eastwood....we'll see how it holds up!! The last pic is of the welder I picked up on C.L. for $300.00.....Virtually brand new Snap on (Blue point) w/a 75/25 bottle.....I'm shocked how smooth this thing welds....... Enjoy! Dan

Amazing build - quality & speed. Makes me jealous.
Like your Champion boat. They used to be built about a mile from my office, before they shut down a couple years ago. Now it's just Ranger, BassCat, & Legend left here in the hot rod deluxe boat categories. |

Holy cow how did I miss this thread?? So please tell me this won't be a trailer queen, you should take your boat to the lake with it every now and then to show it off.

At first I was gonna go with the "Anniversary" look.....like this: Then, I told my painter.....that this two-tone Blue/White was in my future: Then a couple weeks ago I saw a car at the Goodguys show painted this very rare 1975 Corvette color...."Steel Blue"....And I absolutely fell in love with it....I would still do a two-tone with a white cab...I want to keep an Old School, stock look...but I think this color would look awesome in that scheme....

Re: "FRAME OFF" Has Begun - Wish Me Luck! - Pics
A little Progress and a LOT of frustration lately....Just everything I touch is a disaster.....Parts not fitting.....receiving the wrong parts.....Drum brake installation was royal "B".......Painter moving at a snails pace.....overspray on the frame (my Bad on that but it's not too bad).....overall just pretty frustrating....Here's picsa of what I did manage to get done...or not done:
1. Got exhaust fully welded up and re-installed 2. Got new drum brakes installed on rear axle 3. Got the some of the engine stuff put in place...Plug wires routed, coil installed, vacuum lines, clutch linkage....etc...etc... 4. Last couple pics are of the issues I'm having with my new SS brake lines that I got from Inline Tube....Both rear axle lines are TOO short....also the front rubber disc brake lines are TOO short as well.....
