Re: Recent drive by and stop
a t-5 isn't a good idea for a 350 engine in a heavy truck anyways, plus, I have a feeling you'd destroy it anyways.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Nice truck....especially for the money I'd rock it. I just bought my 71 a few weeks ago, I drove two 4sp trucks before it and just felt they were too much "work" to drive, but I was looking for a daily.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Destroy it? Like because I am a kid or because it would be a daily?

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Cant afford new tires. Therefore 1 burnout a month, if even, and not a "dumpin the clutch" burnout.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
the T-5 is lame at best, so it wouldn't take much to kill it. Some ppl have gotten lucky, but many others have not. It simply wasn't built for those kinds of loads.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
What about an early 90's 5 speed from a truck? NV3500? Or NV4500?

Re: Recent drive by and stop
Much better choice, also more expensive and more work though.
Since you are broke, and can hardly afford the truck or tires... lets just figure on keeping whats in there now. |

Re: Recent drive by and stop
We went back there yesterday. Their mechanic(s) tried to get it started. Using ether. We found out it had no gas in it. And before that the guy almost Ether locked the engine. Either way, they finally got some gas in it. Then the mechanic went and looked all over the lot at cars. Needless to say we told the guy we would be there. And he wasnt ready. And we left pissed. I will stop by Tuesday and if it is still there, we will stop in and try to get it started.

Re: Recent drive by and stop
I was getting confused, how you first offered $1600, then got the keys, then offered $700? wouldn't start so came back later. BUT you only have $300 ? what if he took the orginal $1600 or the $700 that day? hey cash talks BS walks... my opinion, that thing loses value when it doesnt start, with cash you may have gotten it cheap, once it is running and as many times as you have been there.. the price will go up.. trust me I've been there..
good luck,, I do remember some other posts, so now I'm not as confused....

Re: Recent drive by and stop
^^Good Advice^^
I have decided not to waste my money on it. I had already checked the drip rail etc. It's all good, just some bondo that needs attention. Somebody resealed it a few years ago it looks like it should hold up for a few more. I thank you for the advice. I hope I will have a nice truck daily, because me and my home school classmate are planning to build a Beetle for our senior project. I will have to teach him ALL of the tools of the trade, he and his father know NOTHING. So, I have a lot ahead of me in the next 2 years. Sorry, if it is confusing for most of you. It isnt for me. You will no longer be confused when all of it happens.
