Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Dominators have much more stroke and alot more durable then a Firestone. They also have more stroke then Slams as well.

The Dominators design is very similar to Slams.

They have a much nicer ride then the Slams though due to the Dominators being made of a softer matierial then the slams and they also take less air pressure to achive a set amount of lift when compared to a Slam which also helps achieve a much nicer ride..

The dominators are rated at 600PSI and only cost about $75 bucks each.

I bought a full set of Dominators for my 63

Crap like that is why repairing someone elses FUBAR was a double shop rate bill.
At least it's fairly solid looking. What I don't get is why block the axle for MORE drop but then space the bag up for LESS drop?
Yikes.

Sounds like Stones but w/extended travel & a 600psi rating. I seem to recall lots of guys wanting to switch to Slams because of the firmer feeling they offered when cycling through their range of motion. That's why I swapped to them in my 68 to see for myself if I could notice a difference.

Bazooka gave the general internet consensus that I have read on the Dominators- I have not personally used the Firestones- but have done a RE7 to Dominator 1:1 swap on my truck. The only reason I even used them was because of the Slam shortage at the time and SD had the Doms in stock. No regrets so far, but I don't know what I would do next time- guess it depends on what you're looking for...

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

RunninLo, I'm not sure what his thought was when he installed it. I don't know why he has a hudge block under the axle either. I am going to just put some 2" square tubing under the axle. I don't think my adjustable panhard bar will fit with that block in there.

There is alot about this truck that is making me shake my head..

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

Dominators are the new Air Lift bag we carry, and yes ride AWESOME! 10" of lift with the 2B7 and far better ride with angodly 600 PSI rating for way cheaper than a SLam. Stones are Firestone bags

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

I ordered 4-dominators from ***************** and I have got to say WOW they have good customer service. I had trouble getting through the online ordering cause it is a Canadian order so I emailed them. The next day Ricky phoned me and asked if I still wanted the bags and he emailed me an invoice right away. I though that was A1...

The notch is yes, but is able to bolt on. No offense but I would rather weld than bolt because I can. If you look yopu can see I plug welded the holes.

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

just wondering here but why didnt you extend your C- notch to cover the top back bone of the frame rail? it also looks like you didnt make any changes with the panhard bar, does your kit not need it?

I'm guessing it's because that's the way CPP offers it.

I'm just guessing... but it looks like they were bottoming out and maybe put the block in there to keep the frame from hitting axle (bumpstop) when full aired out... rather than notching?

I always wanted bags so I could get my truck on concrete... but I'm finding there are a lot of people out there bagged who have no intention of laying frame.

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

I got the c-notch in and just set the bags in there to see how they fit. Looks good. The only thing I did notice was that the diff hits the box before the axle hits the bumpstop. Should I just space the bumpstop down abit?

Sorry, what I mant was 1-for-1 swap. I removed the Slams and directly replaced them with the Dominators.

Yep. Taller bumpstop- or clearance the floor...

Re: Rear bag mounting pics please

I'd clear the floor myself.... my buddy cut this hole for me, otherwise I would have been too whimpy to do it... but now that I've started cutting stuff, I can't stop:

but I have seen guys cut JUST enough for the dif, or the notch, or whatever they need.
