Re: 1953 Chevy 3100 Project
More body work, more primer. Found a guy with a paint booth, and found a good deal on some tires.

Re: 1953 Chevy 3100 Project
Wow, so I've neglected the hell out of this thread. Sorry guys. And it's only taken me nearly two years to get the truck itself finished. But it's darn near there now. Here are some recent shots. Not pictured: the bed is now complete and reassembled. Interior has all new carpet. Spare tire is mounted.
She's not quite done, but very close. Doing some interior work still. A bit of exterior buffing and trim left. The flickr set is running at http://www.flickr.com/photos/fienen/...7608722892176/. Very likely going to sell it once it's complete and buy something a bit older that's been completely restomodded. |

Here's a thread on doing it on a 60-66 (but you will have different considerations, as mentioned above, a rearend swap required also. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=4879486 it might highlight some of the considerations. I am done for now - but future plans call for an old black stick and doorknob (or original 66 4-speed knob), and maybe, just maybe, a 5-speed patter etched or scribbled onto it.... http://prostores3.carrierzone.com/se...obs/Categories Last edited by jocko; 09-05-2011 at 10:47 PM. |

Re: 1953 Chevy 3100 Project
Ha! I understand. It's kinda funny how I ended up doing it - I did the T5 conversion so I could put in a floor shifter and free up the space for a power brake booster (30ntree ears interfered with that idea). In the end, the trans worked out, but the dual quad manifold I've been working has no room for the vac hookup.... So, I got the trans, and manual brakes!

Re: 1953 Chevy 3100 Project
Have you given any thought of starting with another bare 48 t0 53 chassis and building a all new upgraded under carriage and then swapping over you very straight sheetmetal,ie; Dog house, cab, and bed and bumpers, that way you know what you have and could be farmed out in pieces as time and money happen?
From the looks of your work you have some of the hard work behind you and you know what you have. There is a lot of help on this site!

Re: 1953 Chevy 3100 Project
Unfortunately, I don't really have the technical expertise, time, wallet, or space for something of that scale. If I had the space at least, I might be able to muddle through the rest, but I'm not sure how good I'd feel about it.
