Re: My patina
what did you use for body mounts and what rear end did you choose? Do you have any pointers to give a newbie doing his first build with a S10 frame and chevy AD?

Re: My patina
Well, believe it or not I used the s10 rear mounts for the front cab mounts. Just wacked them off and moved them to the front. The front s10 mounts were cut off and thrown away. There is a great tech article on theHamb that helped me out. Just look for the one posted by Clark. If you can't find it I can get it to you. Has pictures and full detailed.
As for the rear end, I went with a 67 Camaro rear end. It was free and wider than the stock s10. |

Re: My patina
swifty, the stock s10 rear is too narrow, you need one out of a 4x4 s10 for box clearance. the article clark does on the hamb is pretty detailed with lots of pic's.

Re: My patina
i did a search on HAMB but i can't find the direct link for the "how-to"
My frame will be here next week so i'm ready to start working on this thing. I've NEVER done a project like this before so i'm kinda nervous about what i'm getting myself into. So i'm sure you'll be seeing a ton a dumb questions from me on the forum. |

Re: My patina
There is no dumb question. Ask away. If I can't answer it I'm sure someone else can.
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=8491 Check that link out. I believe you'll find it most helpful. |

Re: My patina
Your buddy's truck is almost a twin to a local truck that has been cruising around the area for the past 30 years. I think it has been through all the young guys in that family as the driver never seems to age. It has more of the SoCal Bomb look.
I like some of the things you have done on the truck, especially mounting the stock core support and using the original style radiator instead of cutting things up to use a crossflow. |

Re: My patina
Thanks! I tried to keep it as original as possible as far as the body and everything. Engine and suspension is far from original though. haha

Re: My patina
Good luck man. It's not that hard to do at least on paper. But as far as time consuming it is definately that. Just take your time and it'll be fine. If you got any questions just holla.

Somewhere around 5 1/2 to 5 3/4. I can't remember exactly but I'll be glad to measure it when I get a chance.

Re: My patina
Subscribed, you did a great job on your truck. You have given me inspiration for my 55 after I finish the 65. Which is a ways off. I was going to drive it like it is. Only time will tell. Again, great job

Re: My patina
Nice. Very Nice.
What 4 link kit did you use?? I'm wanting to set mine up like that as well and your's look very efficiently engineered. About to weld up my own rods but this is exactly what I'm looking for. ..oh and what (size) bags did you use? Thanks and great job!, Ivan |

Re: My patina
sweet truck man. Did you have to do anything to the fenders to get it to lay out like that? I'm planning to have my running boards about 1" off the ground and didn't look to see if the fenders fall below the running boards or not before i pulled them.

Re: My patina
hmmmm that is a good question. I have no clue. I think they are even. However since mine has some rust right there and is missing some of it I'm not entirely sure.
