i hear you on the minnesota winters, i had a set of oldschool keystones on a car that i drove last winter and the winter just ruined the chrome and i even cleaned them as bet i could everyday once i was done driving
where in minnesota are you from? im about 40 miles east of the south dakota / north dakota lines
I'm in central MN near Brainerd. I agree with the black & chrome, I also like the toned down stealth look.

Going with this in my mind as well, how about the chrome, but with a transparent black clear coat, or better yet get them annadized? I hate chrome anything (nothing personal, sorry) I was just exposed to the chrome won't get you home thing early in my hot rod formative years, so chrome is a no no and aluminum is iffy unless it is raw (as cast, brushed, or painted, for me anyways! Triple black might be too much, but that is why I say the translucent color black on the wheels, since the chrome would shine through except in black?! Am I just way off base or does that sound cool/make sense to anyone else??

I like the machined way better than the chrome. What are you going with for tires?

I plan on the Hankook Ventus or the Nankang same similar tread as the Ventus. Discount Tire has great prices on their wheels and tires but you are a little limited on choices for our trucks. The wheel only comes in 20 x 8.5 for our bolt pattern so that limits me to a 45 tire. I might go 275 45 20 all around.

Re: The trial 20" wheel arrived!

Personally I'd go with the machined finish; I've bought my last set of inexpensive chrome wheels - put a set of 20's on my '01 Sequoia and just over a year later they're pitting badly around where the spokes meet the rim. Maybe it's the humidity in S Fla, but I've got to imagine that in your neck of the woods there are more corrosive elements to deal with as well.

...by the way I got my 20's from Discount Tire as well. So unless you plan to spend big $ for quality chromes, I'd resist the urge.

Black Truck + Gunmetal Powdercoat (on machined wheels) FTW!

Unless you want it to not look so sinister - then get the machine ones dipped in some high quality chrome for the reason previously mentioned by Road Racer. I like chrome.

Like a kid in the car "Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" Thats how I felt with the tracking # after I ordered them. Are they there yet? They came today here are a couple pics.

Good lookin set of wheels!

Im glad you went with the machined finish. I actually think your wheels would have worked in chrome, but 90% of the chrome large wheels I see look cheap (of poor quality, I mean).

Im happy to see you are still workin on that thing. Based on your trailing arm thread I got the opinion that you had sold it and moved on to something else

Re: The trial 20" wheel arrived!

You are right on about the chrome. I had Americamn Racing 20's on my daily driver and the chrome was flaking off in the first 6 months. I had put this on the back burner for a year but now I'm back at it.
