Re: Better Late Than Never....
Im pretty sure that blower is too small for that engine... The truck looks killer though good job on the restoration.

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Holy smokes Jacki, that is one sweet ride. I really love how the interior came out and the bodywork looks flawless. I also like the SS stripes on the hood. Very subtle and awesome looking.
I am quite jealous. A couple of the guys who owned my stepper before I got it were kinda "upset" to see it get completed. On one hand, they got to see it getting restored and on the other hand they were pissed they missed out on such a beautiful truck. If you didn't live so far away, I would be interested in that 283 you have! I really hope the guys at the dealship who were giving you a hard time ate thier words when they saw it at the show! D

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Don....Yeah...they were all pretty surprised...they couldn't believe it was the same truck....the company that we got the seat cover from sold us some extra fabric so that the door panels are of the same material/color. The member that did those also has some kickpanels for it, but I suppose those will wait til warmer weather to be installed...he does awesome work! ...the body work was all done by my father-in-law who has been doing it for 30+ years....he did a beautiful job....and the labor rate was awesome for the budget we were on....I kept his cup filled with coffee or home-brewed iced tea and keep him fed the whole time...i thought it was more than a fair trade.....
FRENCHBLUE72....As for the blower...it has sat on top a 454 it's whole life...in my brother's 69 Impala....it was sorta my birthday present from him. It is the equivelant of a 471....I think it will be just fine...anything bigger and it would be big $ to get the engine where it would need to be to handle it. I like to think of it as a good 'starter blower' And Matt....what's wrong with the Al Grove brackets??

Re: Better Late Than Never....
I should probably point out, that while most of this happened back in 2006, there has been a lot of things added after the 'build'. They really never are done, huh?

Re: Better Late Than Never....
WooHoo....since cents' new toy isn't home at the moment, he has actually been out there doing something to the truck....while it's a very minor thing...it's still progress
The harmonic balancer needs to be drilled out and rethreaded to course thread so we can bolt up the blower pulley....he decided that he wants to get it running and moving and do the tranny swap at a friends' shop. Much easier to do on a lift with a tranny jack The 350 turbo is getting swapped with a 400.....because I will admit...the 350 wouldn't last long with my lead foot..... Maybe she will be running again before spring

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Nice 454 plates. I just shaved the holes on my fenders. That way, it keeps everyone guessing what I have under the hood!

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Well....no forward progress was made yesterday....One thing after another went wrong, so we scrapped working on it for the day...maybe next weekend will be better
First we have to get the parts that broke in yesterday's fiasco......and cents has to let the knot on his head go away...did anyone know that if you are under a truck and the header falls on your head...that's a pretty bad sign of how the day is gonna go

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Awesome thread Jacki. Bob sent me the motor pics the other day. I was really surprised to see the blown big block in there! I just found this build thread tonight I dropped off your kick panels today at the dealership for Bob's dad to give to you. I was afraid I was going to lose them

Re: Better Late Than Never....
After seeing her sitting with dust accumulating at a rapid rate, I was beginning to think she'd never run again. The problem is that 'someone' got a new toy, and mine got shoved into storage in a neighbor's garage.
Now that his project is almost complete (waiting on a special order rear glass) my old gal got drug out of the neighbor's garage. When cents put the BB in, he didn't think to change the perches, so that was first. Tonight I FINALLY got to hear her run Of course it brought to light a few more minor issues to take care of, but most we were able to take care of. Only have to get one more part (apparently the thermostat housing is not gonna work, as it is leaking like a big dog) and the powerplant will be complete This weekend, we're gonna drop the wornout, leaky Turbo350 & install the replacement...a 400 If all goes well (keep your finger's crossed) It will move under it's own power by the end of the weekend. I took a short video of her running and I'll try and post it up later tonight or tomorrow.

Re: Better Late Than Never....
I've never been a nagging wife, and Bob will attest to that...but I have been on his case almost daily since July to get her back on the road....I think he finally got busy just to shut me up!

Re: Better Late Than Never....
Your truck looks real good. It sure did look bad, they did some good work in a short time. Bet they were all amazed, was for a good cause. The blue looks awesome. If you don't mind me asking, what is the blue from? Thanks

I'm sorry...I didn't see this before...It is 2006 Impala SS Laser Blue Metallic. There were 2 variations of the color. The truck is painted one, while the SS stripes are painted the other...very subtle that way Well...she's back up and running She definately needs a Posi rear (which we are working to aquire) I took her out yesterday, and left about 100 ft of rubber on the road...let off to keep the neighbors from getting too upset (and for the record, I live at the end of a dead end street...no danger of traffic) She runs awesome! The only problem...the transmission that was supposed to be good, has a very sluggish 2-3 shift....Hopefully it will last til winter
