Re: What did you get done? 12/07

Friday: Went to two "playgrounds" and got misc screws, front bumper, pushbar, and sway bar. From researching on this site, I found all the info I needed to get the sway bar. Oddly, all the info is in the '67-72 threads. I got the mounting brackets off of one truck and then a 1 1/4" bar and two bushings off a Suburban and the other two bushings of another Suburban. Got all that stuff bolted on except one more bolt in pushbar... Truck looks a lot better now that it has a bumper. Tired of not finding tires in the playground or dealing with flakes on craigslist, so ordered tires from ebay.
"Rescued" my son's aunt and grand aunt, nothing like throwing a big chain on her broken Avalanche and pulling them all over the place.
Saturday: Early birthday party for my future 7 year old.
Sunday: Looked at my carb and my free "rebuilt" carb (costs $400! half the price of truck! for free!) and trying to find a happy, cheap median between the two. The carb on the truck has the jets screwed all the way in and it still runs. Really, really good, but rich. There are choke issues too, like, it's not hooked up. The "rebuilt" carb smelled like gas inside and it was left out in the rain before, the accelerator pump is all crudded up.
I'm thinking I'll get a $17 gasket set from Autozone, use the baseplate from the "rebuilt" carb, it looks good and does have new jets and seats, then replace the other gaskets that I break open. And then try to sort something out about the choke linkage. If it works, I'll save $215 on a real rebuilt carb from Autozone. It's a Quadra-Jet.

Re: What did you get done? 12/07

I went over to the bodyshop that has been working at a snails pace on my truck for the last 5 months. The good thing is that they finally started to spray some primer!! Hopefull by years end I will have it back and then I can start the fun task of remembering how to put it all back together!! LOL... Here is a teaser picture. I can't give away too much yet!

I went junking yesterday with a couple of great buddies! Found a couple of things, but nothing great.
