Summit rear disc conversion kit

I found out some more info for what its worth. the car and truck flange is not the same. Also, it looks like the summit kit is really SSBC which is good to know.

I just bought this kit. The bracket will not fit the 12 bolt truck flange. It wont even fit over the axle housing. I plan to machine the opening slightly so it will fit and drill new holes in the bracket to match the flange. I am still waiting on my new axles to verify the rotor will fit the axle before I do anything.

I think your going to have another problem. I did ALOT of researching today. While redrilling the bracket to match the flange is no big deal, what you're other problem is going to be is the caliper fitting over the rotor. I'm only speculating here, but this is my reasoning: The axle flange offset(which is the distance from the face of your axle to the face of your axle flange is different from a truck 12 bolt to a car 12 bolt. Truck 12 bolt is 2.42 inches. A car 12 bolt for this particular kit should be between 2.75 and 3 inches.

If you can keep me updated on your experience, I would appreciate it.

Been wondering about a 6-lug rear disc myself but just because my '68 2WD has that & I don't want to switch to 5-lug. Has anyone checked out the early 2000 trucks? Had a GMC EC SB that had 4 wheel disc & those are 6-lug in 2WD & 4WD 1/2T. The '07 was back to drum so there should be a few years in there where 6-lug rear disc were used. Personally, I thought the '01 had the best brakes out of any late model GM truck I've owned. Factory has the Ebrake also.

Just some thoughts. Anyone have info on the possibility of this swap?

Can you get that in 6 lug? and do the rotors come as shown or smooth?

we do have 6 lug bolt pattern the price is $65.00 more.
The rotors you see in the picture do come that way

OK. I had to machine out the center of the bracket from 2-7/8" 2-15/16" and weld up the 8 mounting holes. I will drill new holes in the bracket to mount it to the axle flange and hopefully get everything installed this weekend.

I got the drivers side mounted up last night. The only thing that has to be modified on the Summit kit is the bracket that mounts to the flange (see above). You could avoid welding up the holes and just rotating the bracket, but I wanted to be able to mount the caliper wherever Everything else fit like it was made for the truck. Nice kit and you cant beat the sale price.

I will try to get some pictures for you soon. I thought there was going to be issues with getting the caliper to center over the rotor, but I just had to use the provided spacers and it lined up really close.
