Re: 1964 Chevy c-10 build "Carla Marie"

Thanks all for the comments. The truck is a ways off, but I think building them is the fun part!

I wanted to move the engine back to get the weight down and more on the rear tires and less on the front. Better handling and weight transfer. Quick adjustment of timing and to do something different.

Will still do the "Carla Marie" on the bed when redone. I originally wanted to leave the "patina", but after so many hours fixing the floor etc. I will be painting it..

Hope to have my wheels in tommorow. 2008 Nissan Titan 20" six spokes. Ebayed them for $340 for the set. Will have to see how they look. I'll post pics.

Also, shot of the truck with 31" tall 17" spare tire off 2008 Silverado. A little big imo. I will be running 29" tall tires with the 20's.

The spare 17" was off my bosses truck, which by the way fit perfect on the front without modification! Has 5" b.s. and cleared all the balljoint, tie-rod end, brakes. On the back the center would need to be machined out to fit over the axle.

Here's the wheels on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

2008 Nissan Titan 20"x 8" wheels. 5.5" b.s. Couple pics of the front wheel on. Fits great except the dust cap hits the "nissan" center cap. Will have to machine out a couple plain ones anyway. Haven't tried to back yet.

Outstanding! This one will be fun to watch come together - please bring us regular updates - both pics and details. The place you’ve got it looks like a Class A location.

I hate you.

Update on the 64' Just got the cab back from the painter. Had the cab blasted and coated in epoxy primer. Not too many rust spots, but will have to do some patching.

Re: 1964 Chevy c-10 build "Carla Marie"

Went up to the shop tonight and machined the wheels to fit over the rear axle flange. Went from 3" to 3.55" and about .5" deep. Indicated the bore in and wrote a quick program. Hope to get the tires mounted tommorow..

Re: 1964 Chevy c-10 build "Carla Marie"

Also mocked up the carb and air cleaner setup. Going to have to go low profile on the air cleaner to clear the wiper motor. Might do some sort of cold air tubing set-up.

Re: 1964 Chevy c-10 build "Carla Marie"

Got the tires installed today. Getting the truck in roller status always helps! Been thinking of taking the front clip off my c60 for the c10... Maybe graft the front of the c60 fenders to the rear of the c10 fenders and then use the c60 grill suround. What do you guys think?
