Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
No bump steer st all.Just make sure you don't bind or pinch the tie rod ends anywhere in the suspension travel.
This Nova is where I got the idea. There was a site with a lot of info but,it must be gone because I can't get it to load anymore. |

Awesome build.... love your truck. A modern drivetrain transplant is in my dream plans.... sometime in the far future.
Noticed the TN plate too... where's Cypress Inn? |

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
what hoses are you useing for the rack, is it from the camaro or the truck? and do they just interchange? I have a suburban that I can get that has a 5.7 vortec and I can get it for 1000.00, it has 150000 miles on it. I was wanting to put in a LS1, but your job looks very clean, and I'm not so much intrested in the power as I am it the driviability.

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
Hoses are from the donor truck, fit the rack perfect.
That's really why I did it,driveability, good power, overdrive trans, easy cruise control with the drive by wire, and hopefully good fuel mileage. |

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
I was pulling some more stuff out of my donor the other day and was wondering how you did the gas pedal. I assume you just cut and rewelded the bracket where the pedal wouldn't be at an odd angle. The pedal was almost vertical and wwaaaayyy too far off the floor for me.
I sat the pedal assembly in my old 55 sedan and it looked/fit almost perfect in there. Kinda made me think a little...but then I looked at the fat motor sitting between the rails and it quickly went away. |

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
Tim,You're right about the mileage, that's why I said"hopefully",'cause right now it's not too good.
Yeah that pedal is a little tricky,I moved mine around 'til i found the most comfortable spot, and like you I'm going to have to either bend or cut it to get it just right. I found this yesterday and just couldn't pass it up.I spent most of the day getting it home.It doesn't run yet so,it took me,my wife,my son,my dad,and the previous owners to get it on the trailer. This is why it's so hard to finish a project,........starting another one!!! |

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
Looks like a real solid project. So what are your plans for it?
I know what you mean about projects. I have about eleven-teen dozen(it seems like it anyway!) and none are even remotely close to being done. Been there, done that in recruiting every available body to get a project loaded/unloaded. It makes it easier when family members are actually willing to help and they don't have to be threatened. |

Re: A few pics of my '64 5.3
Yep,it's a '60.
I haven't decided yet. It's a 2 owner, father bought new, daughter got it in 1987.Shows less than 50k on the odometer (without a roll over) everything original except for the addition of turn signals and paint. There is some rust in the hood but the rest looks really solid. As much as I like to change things to my taste,I'll have a hard time because this one is in such good shape. The 235 is locked up (been sitting for a while) and I haven't got to check it out yet. |

Nice work on your first truck. Nice 60 as well. You have the same sickness as most of us. "It followed me home".
