Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
Finally got back to work on the truck today.
Installed new rear shocks, front will come soon. But the biggest change was under the hood. The old Stromberg had finally gave up the good fight, so a 4412 was chosen as a suitable replacement. For you guys runnin' the v-6 this is HIGHLY recommended! Huge difference in response, pickup and over-all performance. Thanks guys for answering my questions helping me out.

Your truck is comimg along great, it is good to see the progress on a good classic looking truck like yours. Your steady pace of small details are making a difference in the big picture.

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
Finally got the front shocks on today.
Now she sits level and doesn't beat me to death going down the road. Got underneath with mean green and a pressure washer---YUCK! But then I was able to find a couple grease zerks that were covered with funk. Debating how to paint the bare metal I exposed. P.O.R. ? At work they paint our big truck frames with Rust-oleum Professional and it seems to hold up real well. I'm open to suggestions

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
I've been using the good rustolium for ages on the chassis.and no complaints. When I do my second frame, I'll be using the rustolium.

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
If it works good on the big truck frames, it will work equally well on the old truck frames. Good luck and show us some photos of your progress.

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
Pics are a little dark.
I painted until the sun went down. Got that rust-oleum all over me! Try laying on your back painting above your head, You will get nasty! Good news: Trailing arms and all rear end components are solid as a rock! Bad news: All wood bed mounting hardware is toast

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
Great looking truck, Todd! Do you think you could do me a big favor and take some good pics of your tranny mount? What kind of transmission do you have? You can see on my thread that I desperately need to do something with my tranny mount.
Thanks Ryan

Re: Rolling restoration thread---1962 Stepside
Sorry it's been so long, but I have been maikng progress.
New wheels- American Racing 15x8. New tires all around. Frame is finally painted-Let me tell you it's a "blast" pressure washing 40 year old grease and mud off a truck you're laying underneath. Painted a little under the hood too. Anyway here's what you want-Pictures!
