Re: 72 chevy short fleetside, DM front, 3-link rear. Pics
was able to change out my cam bearings a few days ago so i put the top end back together. ran into a snag adjusting the rocker arms though, some research has shown: tighten adj. nut until no up and down movement from lifter rod; then, tighten an additional 3/4-1 1/2 turn. at TDC #1, i adjusted the valves per my Haynes book's instructions. i tightened until no lash from lifter rod, but then any further tightening starts opening the valve. i imagine that i want those to stay closed. so why does it say tighten 3/4 to 1 1/2 after you've reached no lifter lash? Fyi, i could tell the valves were opening looking through the exhaust ports at the exhuast valves and yes, i was adj. the correct rockers. the are World S/R heads, don't know anything more about them. There is probably 1000 miles on them
anyways, the good stuff: Last edited by bmeredith; 07-27-2010 at 12:07 AM. |
