Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
Did you buy 4x4 rear spring hangers to lift the rear like it was a stock 4x4?

Not yet. Need some stock 4x4 parts. Might block it or add-a-leaf for now till I can get some stock stuff.

Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
Corse with your dropped mounting you'll need to fab up a bracket..or run with out it as long as yer not pushing the limits offroad

Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
Ya I do know im missing mine. Thats todays project! Gonna have to fab up something to work. Had to space the unit down 1.25 inches (the blocks) to keep from hitting the cab. It has the high hump cover so no problem there.

Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
Thanks for the pics Burt! So enlighten me on the dual crossmember. Is it stock or something you added to get more rigidity. Is that a CV joint I see on the rear? Sweet set up. I dont plan to thrash mine to hard but it got a really built 468 in it which has and will torque the truck up a bit!

Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
I was just wondering about the rear hangers for the front springs.......looks like one of the holes is located to one of the body mount holes after you knock the rivet out. Is that correct??

Re: My 4WD Conversion Progress
Hey Chad, I P.M'd ya concerning doing this to my 69. Do you have a parts list I will need from a donor vehichle, if so, what Years will work. Does/Did your rig originally come with Disk brakes? if not, did the front axle add them? if so, was there any issues with that?
I do not know what type of transfer case to get etc... Aso, when you dropped all the 2WD cross member and such, how did you keep the motor from falling out? Your rig looks great and thanks again for all your help, I am now inspired to do this Rick |
