Re: Paint Update On The '71

Looks great Lockdoc! It looks way too familiar too, lol. I just finished painting mine orange & white. I like the red/off white combo you have.

And yes, it took a whole lot more tape than I ever thought it would. It was tough keeping the orange off of the white before clearing.

Thanks Wynne. I used the pictures from your project thread for the paint layout. (Thanks for the help....) We had a problem with the red on the white also. We finally figured out that it wasn't overspray getting under the tape but overspray dust off of the paper when we peeled it off. We finally started wiping all of the overspray dust off of the paper with a damp rag before we started peeling it off and that pretty much took care of it. I don't know how you got your spots off of the white but we discovered that they wiped off with a damp paper towel (very gently).

Re: Paint Update On The '71

Lol, glad I could help! I had a few places where the tape didn't stick good and orange overspray leaked through, but wax & grease remover worked pretty good. I also made the mistake of trying to use a tack rag on it before clearing, which got orange dust on the white. I got most of that off, but missed a few places.

Re: Paint Update On The '71

Both of those are going to be beautiful trucks! I flipped flop back and forth on either orange/white or red/white for a year, but I finally decided on red/white. My truck is solid red now, so I decided to stay with red. I think.

Red face Re: Paint Update On The '71

Looking good!

I hope to have mine ready for paint very soon.

I was tinkering with the idea of either green/white or orange/white but still unsure.

Your Red/White looks good and I'm sure you'll love it.

Keep us updated
