Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

So I just checked JC Whitney's site and they have the part number available. Says they will be available 4/4. Price is $29.99 right now!! Are these the ones you were talking about? If so, I may try a set for my 72 also. Thanks!

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

I will take some pics tonight. I saw a thread in the pickup board were a guy was using them and took a buch of good pics. I will try to find that thread and link it.

I don't have a GM part number for the shields. But I can tell you that I bought them through the Orange County Truck Shop located in Orange, CA. Their number is (714) 771-7871. I think LMC aslo carries the plug shields.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

FYI, JC Whitney said the same shipment date for me, but after I ordered, it told me that they were no longer available. I called and spoke to someone about it and they told me that it looked like they were not able to get them anymore. So I shopped around and found them on Amazon for $51/ea. Also JC Whitney only listed the 674503 which is the right side which I "believe" is the one with the heat tube in it. Amazon has both so I ordered a set of the 674504's.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

I ordered a set yesterday too. I called JC Whitney but the guy acted like he really doubted they would get anymore in So I ended up ordering a set from Speedway, $60 each. Yes that's double the $, but still $20ea cheaper than other places I found them.
Funny how when I woke up yesterday I wasn't even thinking about new exhaust, but after reading this thread wouldn't nothing else do

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

According to a post by PICKMUP when he was selling the kits, the RH side does have the tubes. I'm no expert, just going off of what I've read. One thing is for sure, one of the 2 of us will have tubes.

I will PM PICKMUP and ask. Maybe one of us can change our order depending on the answer.

Only leak I have is at the collector, but need to get some good gaskets before I complain too much. No problems a the heads though.

LT1 had excellent plug wire boot shields, can be had for like 6 bucks a piece or something like that.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

Texanidiot25, those were the parts I found at Speedway, also. They are some good looking ramshorns, but pricey. Is that what you are running?

Fun in Dirt said he ordered some in the $60 each range, and I couldn't find them.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

Just finished modifying my 2 1/2" ramhorns. Took the tube out and tapped the hole, then screwed bolts in both top and bottom holes and grinded them off flush with manifold. Both of mine came with the accessory flang so I had to grind that off too. The cost of these was a little over $216.00 at my local auto parts for the both of them. These were made in china. (Limited Lifetime*)The parts numbers for mine were 674-503 and 674-500. They came with the exhaust bolts and nuts. But went ahead and purchased the brass nuts.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

When I went back there & did a search "exhaust manifold" for them this morning I could not find them either; only the same ones Texanidiot25 referenced.
But they already sent me a shipped confirmation Friday. The ones I ordered from Speedway were part #9300327-R (still not clear on whether I should have ordered lefts instead). I punched that # in & they still show them http://www.speedwaymotors.com/2-1and...olds,9133.html
My total shipped & all was $140.25!

Just regular cheap-o headers, when I bought my truck it was already set up for headers. (Had no motor/trans)

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

I placed an order through JC Whitney, they let it go through, I'll see if I get them?? I would've thought I would have been rejected at the online order phase if they were out of stock?? I'll see, if not then i haul the part number to the local parts place and see if they'll "price match" the online JC Whitney price??

If they let mine go through, my wife may be pissed at me. I'll have 2 sets being delivered.

Re: Headers to 2.5" Ramhorns

My set came in from Speedway yesterday. And now I know that it's not the right side that you need to order, get the lefts. But oh well, they look good & it won't be too bad taking the heat risers out... I hope!
Maybe I'll work on getting the brackets & casting marks ground off this weekend. We have some ceramic coating stuff left in the shop from another project, so I'll probably coat them with that.

Thanks, 2 left sides it is! Obviously you are going to have to show us some pics once you get them coated.

Mine came in yesterday! Dorman 674504 is what you want, if you don't want the heat tubes.
