Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?
Can someone show me how the horn ring is mounted on the 66? I found one from a 66 Nova, but must have something mounted wrong on it as it doesn't have any spring to it and the horn doesn't work and did with my center cap when it was mounted.

This is the column with the wheel removed. This is the wheel and then horn ring installed. Now under the horn ring there are a few wholes. In one of these the wholes goes a spring loaded tab, then a plate to hold it down. The horn ring then goes down on top of this and is held in place some by the insulator (which is the plastic triad piece held in with three screws. Then finally a washer and nut holds everything in place. Once that's on the center cap gets screwed in from behind with two screws that, if I remember right, are 6.5mm hex screws. Hope this helps some |

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?
I must need that center hub/brass piece. I don't have that part. I have the larger one from my original horn/center cap piece, but it appears to be the equivalent of one portion of the new horn ring.
I'll post some pics tonight. |

Re: can someone ID this steering wheel?
The brass piece pictured first is part of the turn signal switch, but is also one of the contact points of the "button" that fits in one of the holes through the steering wheel itself. If you'd like I can scan a page or two from my shop manual that shows the exploded view.

That would be awesome!!
Do you by chance have a pic of the ring before it went on? Last edited by ol Curt; 04-06-2009 at 01:07 PM. |
