Re: Finally!!! The Maiden Voyage!!!
Great job. It has got to be like going back in time and driving it as a brand new one.
So what now? Sell it and start another project?

Inspirational! To think you stuck with it for all those years. That is dedication and commitment.
You have accomplished something many never do. Great job! You should do a photo shoot. It is worthy of being in a mag. |

Re: Finally!!! The Maiden Voyage!!!
That's all kinds of sweet buddy! So what are your plans now?? You going to pamper it and hit the show/cruise scene for the first couple of seasons and then start putting the miles on it? Gonna start driving the hound out of it now? Either way, enjoy it! I can't imagine working on one for 14yrs!

Re: Finally!!! The Maiden Voyage!!!
VERY SWEET!! I have enjoyed all your updates over the last year or so, and the end result is breathtaking. I always tend to forgot how beatiful they are in stock form until I see one like this. I know you are loving it!

Re: Finally!!! The Maiden Voyage!!!
Thanks again for all the compliments guys. Just wanted to answer a few questions that have come up.
The truck did not have a/c, power brakes or power steering. I added the options as the build progressed. I tried to keep them as "factory" as I could. The holes for the a/c box at the firewall and the dash holes were cut out to the exact detail as the factory ones. Patterns were taken from an a/c cab. The rebuild was a frame-off and every aspect of the build was done by me, with the exception of the machine work on the block-it was bored .030 over. I rebuilt the transmission, diff., power steering box and everything else on the truck. I do have a complete overdrive unit that I rebuilt as well, but I have not installed it yet. I started the teardown in 1995, took several sebaticals over the years and within the past couple years decided to finish it up. Brian, I will probably put it in a few shows this summer, but I plan on driving it...that is, as much as Hagarty's Insurance will let me. It the June 1995 issue and April 1999 issue of Custom Classic Trucks magazine, on the "Feedback" page, they printed articles I wrote & sent in along with pics. I thought about contacting them to see if they would be interested in an update on the truck, & see where it goes from there.
