Re: LS1 or traditional SBC
Yeah, that's true. But if you keep the efi and do a cam/heads swap you can run 500/hp with the a/c on.

I haven't actually done the LS/Gen III swap myself, but I have researched it quite a bit, sourced the engine and trannys locally and talked to guys like us that have done this swap. If you have a good TH-350 sitting in your garage, I can understand your preference to use what you already have. Just giving you options. I have found used 4L60e trannys locally for around $500.

Re: LS1 or traditional SBC
I have 4 month old twins, a 6 year old son, and two 8 year old girls, I know how hard it is. Build it how you want it in my opinion.
Let me know where I can get one of those engines when you're ready. I've been wanting to rip one open myself.

Re: LS1 or traditional SBC
Just buy the new block that lets you build an SBC with LS heads and intake. It uses all SBC internals with LS H/C/I.

Re: LS1 or traditional SBC
I used a custom harness built by "Speartech" & am very happy with it. Top notch quality wire /terminals/protective wrap. John uses "hi-temp" wire loom & asbestos wrap where needed.

Re: LS1 or traditional SBC
Due to the valve angles, yes, I think you have to run LS style pistons, but I have heard that you can run either all LH pistons and be ok and I know they sell SBC pistons for 15, 18 and 23 degree heads. I'm not sure how available large bore LS pistons are and also pistons that will work with something less than 6.125 which is a LS rod I believe. Wiseco probably has something that will work out of their ProTru catalog.
