Re: Lets see how you make your bed

Lots of good looking bed's, at one point i thought about installing this wood kit to my blazer. Im ture it would have to be modified but i wondered how it would look. I guess it was just a phase and plans have changed. I wonder if anyone out their has done it. I guess it might be pointless to do so, it would be nice but just for looks!

Is that stained wood? Or is it Ipe? Ipe is a wood they use for decking alot. Very stable and harder than hell.

Pics of the truck? Well of course I do, but I had borrowed my daughters camera and the settings were wrong. Poor quality at best...
Thanks. I figured it was stained. That's really cool how they matched it to the paint like that.

woodwright, by looking at the long straight grain and the different color in the boards, those look to be poplar. Without seeing it in person, I can't say for sure though.

Re: Lets see how you make your bed

68Stepbed, I like the way that ash looks with the blue. What's the name of that blue? Are the strips painted also, or are they polished and reflecting the body color?

Re: Lets see how you make your bed

coast2coast, my color is PPG Atlantic Blue Pearlcoat from the 04-08 Dodge pickups. The strips are polished stainless and probably just reflecting the blue color. The angle strips on the side have been painted though.

That bed is in great shape for an original in Western Washington. Did it come from somewhere else?

My red oak has two coats of dark walnut stain and 5 coats of marine spar varnish.

The bed is held to the frame from underneath.

Has anyone ever used cypress or cedar? I live In a county that is 50% sal****er and if it's good enough for exterior applicaction on homes, it should do fine in the bed of my steppie, right?
