I wasnt so patient last night ! Got a wild hair and installed the tank even though I had yet to get a new filler tube hose (and guess what it leaks !)
Nor did I seal the tank to the opening of the car , undercoating should do the trick.
It does run now after priming the fuel pump , ran way better but still would not idle with the choke off. Vac leak, so on went the new Weber, as it was getting dark . Still not perfect but the carb is not fine tuned yet.

Over a week later I figured I would put the Amazon back in the garage before it rains again. It started o.k. and I moved it closer to the garage and let it run while I cleared a spot for it . It was getting pretty smelly in the garage
and "she" was due home soon so I shut it down . Swept the garage and started it back up and WAAAAAAAAAAAAA that sucker went WOT !
I really wanted to spy the tach and see what it was revving
But really dont want a rebuild project just yet
So I just shut it down and looked at the linkage and did not see anything wrong.
Tried starting it and WAAAAAAAAAAAA again WOT . Not fun anymore.
So I started looking at the old Weber and nothing was real clear at 1st.
Finally figured it out , I had tightened the accel lever to tight and it was binding the throttle part open then sticking open w/o the gas pedal being pushed .
I neede to mow the lawn so its back in the garage till this weekend when hopefully I wont burn it down hooking up the electric choke

So I actually worked on the Amazon last night. Thanks to motivation from
helping Sillyoldman get "Ugly Betsy" running.
All I did was pulled off the old filler neck hose, took about 1/2 hour.
Why I did not do that before reinstalling the tank I'll never know.

I know all you voracious Volvo fans are going nuts waiting for updates on the Amazon.
Not much going on I just hate the tuning stage. Rebuild an engine or carb
suspension work, love that stuff. Adjust and tune it always leaves me w/o
focus or drive. No burnout pics till it runs a little better. I did get the electric choke hooked up(now I have to adj. it) The new filler hose is on.
Now I am doing the back out the mixture adj. screw on the carb to determine if it needs bigger jets or not.
So close but yet so far away, my pride says I have to finish what I started.
Another part of me is smart enough to know that may take forever and paying an expert is not a bad idea ?

Been draging my feet on this one for some reason? Maybe the $150/per hr.
Got it running (again) today and washed it. Brrrrr Now its time to vac out all the fir needles.

It actually runs pretty good but has some electrical issues. No lights, heater fan etc. Not going to be a driver any time soon.

I lurk there now and again, some great info just dont always understand the younger crowds lingo. I'm 45 and kinda nerdy I guess.

I figured once the fuel thing was done I'd drive it. Now the lights and stuff need to be figured out as well as the seats they sag so bad I sit almost on the floorpans, at least I have headroom !
It is running well(if it lived through the 12 degree weather) cleaning the plugs helped bunches. Still want it scope checked to be sure its not too rich or lean.
Think I'll save the dyno testing for the Oldsmobile.

Hmmmm ! rid a project would save some stress, that would be logical.
Nothing too logical about this group huh ?
Took it for a spin down our road last night, just for kicks, right now I am working on cleaning connections, replacing bulbs, and next clean ? modify or replace fuse box. Only 4 fuses but they are the euro ceramic type. Not at your local parts store.

I spent about an hour cleaning connections under the dash. Still nothing except a kink in my neck . Pulled the box out of the 68 yesterday in the rain. So I'll mod that box for the 66. Not a big fan of electrical work.

Fuse box upgrade still waiting, but I did pick up some Mexican blankets in Cabo.
Enough for the front and rear seat or just fronts and the 49 front seats.

Stole the fuse box from the 68 parts car and drilled out the rivots and its amazing how much corrosion is on there. Its looks like a layer of grease/dirt.
Can't really tell how bad in the pics. I cleaned a few of the connectors with my wire wheel.(little by little)
Also built a rear drum puller so I can move the 68 and work on it (taking things for the 66) under my awning. The RR brakes had a spring break causing the wheel to lock up.
When I have the shop a little cleaner the 66 will go inside and I'll get the
sucker going!

More baby steps, moving in the right direction. About half way done on the fuse box repair/upgrade. Not easy work, seemed easy in my head.
tinned the terminals after hand filing each one. Was going to finish tonight but standing in one spot holding the trigger "on" with one finger while adding solder and the vise grips with another for an hour and 1/2 my legs started aching.

It works ! I have wipers, blinkers, fuel gauge I still have to figure out why no dash lights, could be a bulb ? Started to run out of daylight.
Did not do the fuse box repair just the way I wanted it. Some terminals are out of order and I still have to bend down the terminal that had the shorty fuse.
I bent it back and drilled a hole so I could use the more common longer fuse.
I stayed with the euro fuse style for now. If the car gets a complete resto then I would rewire the whole car with a new box. We'll see about that.
