Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
I have true duals no cats with 2 1/4 flowmasters super 40s cut a few inches after the muffler without turn downs, It's kinda loud inside and out, and really loud at 2,500 rpm in 1 st gear and I have a a coat of under coating, a roll of heat shield, floor mat sound deader and carpet, eventually I'm going to change to super 44 with 2 1/2 pipe that exits behind the rear tires

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
Before I switched to the big block, I was running flows with stock manifolds.
Problem was, it sounded like a mustang. I wanted a different sound for the 454. The 87 has Dynomax headers now with turbos. Very deep tone. Wife doesn't like the look of the headers in the eng compartment, so we're going with ceramic coated ones.. not sure which yet. My '86 Jimmy has Dynomax headers, mufflers and 2 1/4 out behind the tires. When you stab it, it gets loud but it has a "airy" sound to it also. Kenny

I'm a fan of Flowmasters. But, then again, the truck is not my primary transportation. When we go off into the sunset, we take the wife's Japanese car.....I think she's running Nissan Morano exhaust. If I'm tripping around by myself, I drive the Jeep. Six banger geared to drive up a flagpole, and get out of the way of faster traffic once I'm up to highway speed. Works for me. Nothing's as good as driving the truck......You guys know that. Well, I guess if I had a 34 Ford Vickie with a 350/700R/air/electric windows, satellite radio, etc......

I have a dynomax super turbo muffler, single exhaust. When I do my duals I'm going to get cherry bomb vortex mufflers.

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
Flows drone like no tomorrow. Ando on long road trips it gets really really old!!!!!!!!!!! I do like that mine is somewhat loud but I think I would be happier with cut outs and some dynomax mufflers. that way it is loud when I want and mellow but agressive when you get on it.
I have long tube hookers to y to a cat flowmaster 50, then two straight out the back. My 77 has stock manifolds, y then a Thrush glass pack and dumps out the side before the rea. It has less drone then the flowsmaster. My freind has try headers to an X pipe two twin stainless dynomax mufflers. It sounds real classy. small rumble on idle but not a dead give away. then when u get one it it screams. No highway drone.

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
two in, one out to a turn down before the axle, but im running a melowtone on a 400 smallblock with a bit done to it. I Love it! Also running a melowtone on the 07 silverado, after-cat with turn downs after the axle...no drone, not too loud, just right...I think it adds a "classy rumble" to the truck......

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
Before I spun the bearing in my 350 I had stock manifolds & y-pipe to a generic $15glasspack to stock tailpipe. It sounds decent but I have summit truck headers waiting for when I switch the engine with the intent to run duals and still up in the air for which mufflers to get...

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
hooker headers, 3" exhaust, had 2 chamber flows, dump right in front of axle, changed mufflers to 2 maremont 102311(fit 94 c3500 HD) 3'' all the way through and quiet. notice no change in seat of the pants feel and doesn't wake the dead to and from the fire house...

Re: What mufflers are you guys running?
I'm running Heddman headers, true duals (2.5"), to Summit 2.5" turbo mufflers. I've run flowmasters, and Bassani on previous vehicles, both of which have a mean rumble and a lot of interior noise. I choose the Summit mufflers because they have very little interior noise and they were dirt cheap.

250 I6 to cat.
muffler rusted / fell off. i really like the sound. if i do replace the exhaust while i still have the 250, i'll run a cherry bomb glass pack that i already have. i'll run this motor until the head cracks. there's only so much money to go around. as long as it's driving and sounding decent i'm not replacing the 250. shame there's not much you can do with the integral head inline. |
