Re: headers, anyone got the answer?

Ok I have no idea what the sandreson headers are you guys are talking about but if you want clearence then go with a shortie.Ive had about 8 of these trucks and the headers I always use has been the shortys of an 82 camaro there is no collector problems at all becouse its up high the only thing I have ever had to do was notch the frame maybe about a 1/2 inch on the drivers side,Ive used these headers on 68,76 and 84 trucks that were all dropped the collectors on the full lengh headers hit and break with my drops normally 4/6 so I have always used these and had everything run on top of the frame.

I used to use only heddman headers but now just get the flow techs from summit 89.99 unless you need the pretty burnt chrome looks then get the high dollar ones

Re: headers, anyone got the answer?

I just suggest you go with a set of these, and avoid all the issues all together.

This is my buddies 65 that's in my truck club, He has a DropMember up front, they are a set of fender well headers that he is running on the outside of the frame rails.

This is probably what I will be doing when I get there.

holy hell!those things are huge. You'd think all that unsupported weight would crack studs or welds up near the head over time. I'd love to see them installed though. They do look high quality. Who makes them?

OVERKILL for most street sriven trucks. Talk about making the simple difucult. Not to add they are quite ugly. If you like them and want to use them.. go right ahead. Total overkill though if you ask me. We these made at home? These look like something that would come off a monter type truck or dunebuggy. I would not use them if they were free. Sorry.. just being honest.

Re: headers, anyone got the answer?

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you have performance and clearance as an issue than this solves the problem. Most street driven trucks do not need LT headers, so shorties or manifolds with custom bent exhaust would meet criteria for laying frame, but this example shows how to lay frame, meet performance goals and in most situations look cool, but you obviously have a different opinion of what that is. I really think this board is better used for constructive criticism or technical discussion, not the general "These are quite ugly" comments. Please show me your custom made LT headers to meet the above guidelines and I will withdraw my comments, since by your statements is not difficult.

Re: headers, anyone got the answer?

My post WAS constructive criticism.. and you're right they are goal accomplished.. so if this is what you need to meet them.. then all is good.

Maybe I skipped a post or two, but I didn't ready anywhere (in this post)where this was an issue.. That's why when I saw them...

Kind of just came out of left field as another header option is how I took it. Like I said, maybe I missed a post. Some header mods are minor trim mods as mentioned with some off the shelf headers, not all. These things are something entirely different.

No issues here from me.. at all.
