Red body with all the white accents with yellow wheels??

Thanks, but I'll pass.

I have a idea in my head. We'll see how it plays out.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Leave the roof red... Too many with white roofs... Or do the roof siver with a ton of flake and the wheels to match..but that probably wont look good with the white trim.. . I dunno.. All the trim and bumpers white it throwing me for a little loop - de - loo... Can't go wrong with black though...

Can't go wrong with glossy black steel wheels and wide whites.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

I think you have nailed it.

Leave the roof red for now, you have all the time in the world to paint that later. You might find you prefer the roof red.

White bumpers, grill and hood lites. Check.

Gloss Black wheels w/ wide whites. Check.

Sounds like the makings of a bad ass pickup.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

I think you should do a slime or puke green on the rims to make the wide whites pop, and definetly paint the top white for the two tone nostalgia feel. just a thought.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Gonna do gloss black steelies with wide whitewall tires.

Trouble now is....

Ever do body and paint work to a nice solid truck and make it look worse?

We did.......

Its way more glossy than I wanted, and I can see too much of the sanding marks and crap like that.

It was a quickie job, done in just a couple days, and done alot by me and the wife and kids, so it was never to be perfect.

It just looks very so-so under the shop lights and I guess I'm alittle dis-heartened by it.

Its getting lettered up, and Im thinking I may rub a scothbrite pad over it first.

I am a huge fan of patina and worn-out shop trucks

Maybe Im being to critical of my old beater truck, but Id hate for people think think its a wavy, bondo'd up old truck when its really a mostly clean, solid straight truck.

I need to find a job. I'm starting to go crazy..........

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Old it up Grumpy... Thats what we call it... Did you see the two tone Blue 57 Buick wagon at Columbus Goodguys the was all lettered up with Sid and Addys Magnetos??? That car was PERFECT when it rolled in the shop... Scotch brite pads, a bucket of water and some rattle cans for some dirty effect... I like them dirty too... It was bought from some old dude who totally restored it and took it to national Buick shows.. he would have a heart attack if he seen it now..

Personally as long as a truck isn't sitting in a field rusting I can careless what others do to "Their" truck. I'd rather see it sitting in front of their house or on the road of course, but hey sometimes it just takes a bit of work.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

I plan on driving it to canfield all weekend. My buddy sets up a huge display and we help.
pending I get it back together by then

That burb and shasta pic is awesome. We should have never sold that Shasta. It went overseas.

We have a 1961 Scotty now, and its just too small for 4 of us. She wants to sell it and find something alittle larger.

Several of our club guys have vintage campers too. Its fun and thats my wife's favorite thing to do. She goes all out pimping our campers with Tiki stuff etc..

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Hope you get it back together in time. But you've got color on it now so everything else is the easy stuff.......ha ha.

You mentioned something about a vendor pass on the other topic. Any chance you can still get an extra one? As of right now, I'm planning on coming as long as I don't get lost on the way.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Well kids. Tomorrow(wed) will be 2 weeks I've owned it.
Not too bad of progress so far. Its getting closer.

gots to get the tailgate and hardware on, rear tail-lights and some wiring finished out back finished, and get it running alittle smoother.

And started scuffing the new paint to dull it down. The more dull it gets, the happier I am with it.
Sounds weird huh??!!

Still hoping for canfield.

Re: New progress on my new 60 Turd

Well, got it together enough to drive.
Put about 150 miles on it this weekend. Runs like Poo. Carb is junk. And exhaust is holding on for dear life.
But I drove it.

Got it lowered friday night. Replaced torsion bolts(Thanks ceruzziracing), and left them low.
Bought a pair of Jeep TJ springs today at the swapmeet, put them in friday evening. Dropped it quite a bit, and rides so smooth.

The front is on the bumpstops, but once I trim them down, it should drop another 3/4"
Still rides good though.

Heres some crappy cellphone pics. It has weird shadows that look like bad bodywork or dents, but its shadows.

Now gotta find a better carb, get exhaust replaced, and do final bedfloor. And finish scuffing paint. Only have a couple places rubbed on so far.

But I drove it...
