Re: Commercial Car haulers and Transport Company

thats the problem with big movers if it was a little guy he would have called you ???? wether he gave a good excuse or some BS at least you would know that you stuff is still safe and he hasn't forgotten about you??
I know when I move stuff the owner gets my personal cell # and can call me anytime day or night......fortunatly for me just running the east coast almost all of my moves are pick up today and deliver tomorrow......alot of times I'm at the end of the driveway when they wake up.....talk about excited people!! ..I have picked up a boat in Scraton Pa around 11 am and dropped it in Daytona Fla @ 9am ...I also take pics of every ding dent or scratch before leaving....I also like to call the new owners and tell them EXACTLY what I see so when I drop it off theres no suprises from a bad ebay deal or something??

Re: Commercial Car haulers and Transport Company

Nope. I'm still waiting for them to find me a driver. They told me they had a driver waiting in Wyoming so thats why I signed a contract with them on Aug.27th. They said it would be picked up on Aug.28 and delivered to me on either Aug.31 or Sept.1.
On Aug.31 I called them and asked them the status of the suburban and they replied that the driver they had in Wyoming (where the suburban is at) suddenly backed out. I'm trying to get my deposit back ($200) but the contract states they have 14 business days (Sept.16) before they can give the deposit back or else I'll lose it.
In the meantime, I have a laid off friend who was ready to go last night (he has a car hauler) and pick it up for me.
So now I wait--8th day--and still no burb.

If thats the case I would forfeit the $200.00 and have your friend pick it up and call it a day....

Amen to that........

Why didnt you ask your friend in the first place? Or was he laid off when you made the deal?

Re: Commercial Car haulers and Transport Company

That is exactly what I'm thinking about doing. I just called my friend and he has to check his schedule and he's going to get back with me in a little while to let me know if he can still do it and have it back here by Monday (my wife is out of town and I want it here before she gets back---it's a long story).

I would have called him at the very beginning but I didn't know he had a car hauler.

Thanks all for the advice.

Hey, in all fairness, you probably dealt with a "broker" and they're just hunting for a truck by posting it on the internet. You may be in an unpopular route. I recently sold a truck on ebay and had to wait almost a week to line up a truck to haul from Va to Wi. And, that was dealing with a local guy who's a broker.

Re: Commercial Car haulers and Transport Company

go to uship open an account ( free ) and post it as a pick up date that works 1 day after you get your $$ back from the other guy?? just make sure you deal with a driver not a broker you'll get a good price and you burb...quick

Re: Commercial Car haulers and Transport Company

Hey guys, I just wanted to say that the guy who picked up my burb, Dennis Holden is a great guy to work with. He's not part of this board but he did an outstanding job, was honest and trustworthy (very important), and went the extra mile with e-mails, phone calls and sent me pictures. I would recommend him whole-heartedly.
On the other hand, I'm still trying to get my deposit of $200 from Allegiance Auto out of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. I think that eventually I will, but will know more in a few days. Personally, I would stay away from them.
Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. Yes, Hottrucks, you can know tell me "I told you so."
I'm a whole lot happier with my burb sitting in my driveway. Click on the burb section and look under "My 72 Burb" and you can see it.
Have a great day,
Joe from Kansas
