Here you guys go, they got all sorts of plates. I know in Maryland you can run these plates as long as you have a registered tag in your car.

There is a site where you can purchase new old plates with anything you want on them up to six letters and numbers even has the year stamped with the correct color .I looked them up but can't find it now.

I don't know the rules NOW with vintage plates but I used to get pulled over with farm tags on my truck with passengers in back riding. As long as I was hauling stuff I was ok but there was no joy riding around, with or without passengers The DPS made them get out and walk. Might want to check

Re: Special tags:Vintage

Funny farm truck tag story.yes,it`s true
When I lived near Flagstaff,AZ (Mountainaire)I still had my Maryland Farm truck tags on my Power Wagon I drove out. That was 1981,and different states, but I did cross the top of Texas. The restriction was no more than 2,500 miles a year, right about the distance from my folk`s farm to Flagstaff.I figured if I got pulled over for them I`d just say all I was doing that year was driving one way and parking it .I even backed over a Porcshe and didn`t get in trouble for the tags,or backing over the Porcshe!! The guy had nudged up tight with his nose under my truck.I decided to back up(was waiting for the train to unload and figured I`d park and walk across the track.I checked my mirrors and saw nothing.I backed up a couple feet and my diff cover hit his bumper as well as the frame dented a fender top.how far is a rear axle in front of a longbed?More than a couple feet. The judge heard my story and let me off.

A slammed truck with farm plate would be awesome. You oughta get you a big stuffed hog to ride in the back.

Thats what I figured but a bagged truck may still not constitute a farm truck. I say go for it.

Re: Special tags:Vintage

Just stay away from Rodeos and you should be fine. $95 was the fine for improper farm tag use in Texas. Not too bad. They do bust alot at the rodeos

Re: Special tags:Vintage

You can register vintage farm tags in Texas and pay full price and they are completely legal to do what ever you want with

I looked up the Missouri statute on using old plates just now and they'll let you run a year of manufacture plate but, the way I'm reading the statute, you'd be under the same restrictions as a regular historic plate, which are:

Any of you Missouri people know if this is, in fact, the case? It pretty much shoots down displaying them on a daily driver if it is.
My truck is antique tagged. I'd say you're fine until you have a problem with the law. lol.. my truck isn't a daily driver though. I don't think many lawfolk would hassle you. Just stay out of KCMO if at all possible.

Odd note of interest on the Missouri tags.. no more inspections.. and I've yet to receive a personal property bill on my truck.

oh.. and no renewals

Yeah, I knew about the "no inspections or renewals" thing. I'm just wondering who'd ever check the 1,000 miles per year rule if you never have to present it for an inspection or a renewal (other than cops if you got stopped for something).

I found this one.Price is $85.00 but is supposed to be proper design and color for what year you select,You can even customize it.Just click on the states tab on the left and they go up to 1971.

Re: Special tags:Vintage

I remember when I got my truck 2 years ago, we had thought about putting historic tags on it but we would have to send in pictures and keep it in a locked garage. We also couldn't have any vehicles older than 1992, and we only have 2 that are newer than that.

yep, all the cool kids are doing it now!

Technicly, in ohio, you have limited use, but you have to be askin for trouble to get nabbed for it.
Added bonus, you don't need a front plate if you have dated plates here.... but they look so cool, i decided to run it anyways.
I just wish they weren't michigan colors.

Re: Special tags:Vintage

Here we go. I've got some pics now. I have more than this but must find them to take pics.

Here is a '51. I found this in an old barn. Also found a '50 but have to find it at my house.

My most recent purchase. (Actually never bought vintage plates till these) Got them at the 2009 Dallas Auto Rama.

This is funny: I was looking at them at the show and while at the booth I thought that someone around me needed to take a bath so I hurried up and bought them.... $25.... I put them in the garage when we got home. The next morning I wake up and want to see them. I take them out of the package and WOOOOOOOO these plates need to take a bath. Maybe that is why they were only $25. I might run these. They are hanging up in the garage airing out. WOW it's bad when you get right up to them. Use the wafting method.

I have some more '71 Texas, that don't match but, also have to find them. I will and will get more pics.
