Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

This info need not cost a dime. I had them send me two for free awhile back and would like to offer anyone who needs one for a 72 for free. Just PM me and I'll get around to scanning it and email it to you.

It doesn't tell you anything specific about your truck. A waste of money IMHO.

The Canadian one is worth the $50.00 (plus applicable taxes), IMHO. It has lots of neat information, like the date is was built and shipped, What dealer took delivery of it what options (if any) it came equipped with.

Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

kelsfine69 , if i remeber(did this like 19 years ago) i phoned back to gm canada and they had a division , i think it was historical information...they sent me out the info on my chevelle....it is a photo copy of the assembely line build schedule ( all the cars with vins and option codes including mine) that were on the line and a break down of the day it was ordered , the day it was built and the day it was shipped and delivered to the dealership...name of the dealer ship....and a breakdown of all option that the car was delivered with... Mine was free but i heard the division in canada has been charging for awhile now

Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

I spoke with Geoge Zapora at GM, phone number is 1-888-467-6853. Mine has the paint code, listed and how many trucks where produced with the same model number, (5,729) where produced in Oshawa for sale in Canada, as 2 wd. long box, fleetside regular cab)

Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

I called GM a couple of times to try a different rep and see if I could still weasel one out of them for free, but it's $50 now. Website says the same thing.

Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

50 pages down about 70 still to go. And to answer vance h its a stack of copied pages that go in to detail about options for that year some motor and transmission specs and even some frame measurements. Not really worth 50$ but still kind of neat.....

Re: Chevy Resto Packs now cost $50!!!

I gotta shop manual (Original - $30) and the book that the dealerships used when you wanted to order one new ($75). Since the privacy laws keep us from learning any of the history of our vehicles AND since the Resto Pack doesn't include anything about when the vehicle was built or to which dealer it was shipped to, there's nothing about the Resto Pack that appeals to me.

Get me some specific data for MY truck and I'll think, but then I'm quickly losing interest in my disassembled vehicle. Yeah, it's like that at my house.
