I ended up having to get a new front drive shaft (worn out), and got a high pinion one made, as well as having to extend the rear drive shaft. I had to modify the emergency brake mounts, and just moved them to the bottom of the frame from sitting inside. And I ended up leaving a 1" block in the rear springs, since I frequently load the bed up on trips. I'm running 35" (315/75r16) tires on it, and only rub when I'm really flexing and turning. The lift is solid, being for a 3/4 ton truck, and even loaded I don't sag the suspension, and there is very little drop.

The really nice thing that I love about these trucks is how high everything sits with the 6" lift. Current trucks seem to sit on top of the frame where the frame hangs 6" below the body, and our trucks keep the frame under the body line.
I shouldve asked this earlier but where did you order your kit from? I just called 4wd parts and they are back ordered til April. going with a 6" all spring now.

Re: 8-10" of lift

The 35x16 will rub under full flex with a 6in and I belive even with the 1in flip kit might want to go too the 2in. my fender have been pushed in more than a inch i think.

Mines a 6in with 35x16 boggers. Yu can see where it got pushed in but a lot of flexing involved.

Re: 8-10" of lift

what brand of lift are you running? it wont be seeing that much off wheeling Ive decided to sell the truck after I get another one driving. Might I say I love your truck, but sadly loved it more as white still looks good tho dont get me wrong.

I ended up ordering it from a friend-of-a-friend that owns a local shop here in town...... They are a bunch of rock crawlers, and mock my attempts of building something they call "half way there"...

Anyway, before I ordered it, I used this site a lot for prices, comparisons, things like that, but they seemed to be good....

Just to let you know that if you are wanting to run those boggers as a DD. They won't last long. They are known for that.

Re: 8-10" of lift

OH I knew they wouldnt be lasting to long(my friend uses his as dd and they are still decent after 3 or 4 years and he did what Im going to do, anytime you have to drive more than 20 miles then use the old ladies car lol) but I will be talking them off for winter and such. the tires wont be on all the time. Mainly summer. After gerfunken and mudder suggest that place I might just give them a call, I just wonder if theyll have the kit. I dont wanna order a lift and not get it till spring(aka like 4wheel parts).

I also think it looked better white, but i would try places other than 4wheelparts online because it seems they don't have much in stock.

this is what I was thinking, they should change their name to wait for 4 wheel parts lol.
I went to a local wrecker looking to see if they had any d60 fronts and he suggested a guy that works for a spring company close by and he does what ever you need, and another friend said today just tell him what I want and he'll get it for me. so Im gonna check around locally some more before I order online. I might wait till spring as well and spend the money on a sled right now, theres just too much snow to ignore anymore lol.

Re: 8-10" of lift

so the wrecker called back and they want 1800 for a d60 they have. I almost choked, Ill have to find out if that is rebuilt or what the details are for it, but man did I do a double take when she said the price.

Re: 8-10" of lift

It ought to be about freshly rebuilt.A wrecker here in MD had 3 for $400 each. That`s cheap. So,was Slick17`s whole K/30 that cost $200 more than that axle. The last set of CUCV axles I sold for $1,500.They were just yanked out,untouched,rusted-out backing plates...but had Locker/Tru-Trac.

Since this is looking more like a 6" lift thread I`ll give my input.I have experience with those. On my`72 K/20 I used 6" Tuff Country EZ-rides all around with 10 x 16 wheels and 12.50/35 Xterrains.I get a little rub turning up inclines sometimes, like a driveway. Those tires are a fairly fat 12.50 (compared to BFGs),but no big lugs like Swampers and Boggers.I think they are the best deal out there. They sell their own products as www.suspensionconnection.com .It sounds like the manufacturer is backed up on those other springs.4WPW is huge and they are afraid to stock parts.I don`t figure Tuff Country will be back ordered.

Re: 8-10" of lift

would that be a good deal for a rebuilt front end, or should I just save some more money and buy a military blazer with what I want?

Edit: I was starting to lean toward tough country as well, it seems like their lift is a true 6" while superlift is a 5" rear spring.

Re: 8-10" of lift

the military blazers are still dana 44s, but a cucv truck would have the dana 60 front and 14 rear 4.56gears. And from what some have said come with crossover or have the parts for it.

Re: 8-10" of lift

Onlyifihadachevy was saying only the K/30 CUCVs had Dana60s,just like their civilian brethren. The CUCV K/5s had 1/2t axles.

The going rate for a Dana60 is $1,000 in the off road market.A junkyard could be less. It`s just an axle to some and others know about them being a popular swap for wheelers.I you went through and rebuilt everything you would have a very expensive axle.Maybe not quite $1,800,but if you paid someone you could have about what Boyce wants for new.I`ve heard of peoplepaying $1,000 for a front end rebuild on the lighter solid axles. That`s just the outer stuff and steering.

I totally spaced and forgot that the truck I took the tranny from still had its drive shaft in it, Im gonna go out tomorrow and see how long it is and if it will work, thanks for your help man! I just couldnt remember if the slip yoke was supposed to be at the tranny or if there was another style of driveshaft that I was missing.

I could see that.I spent over $400 already on my d44 just on the outsides like you say. that why Im really interested in the d60. did they make a cucv blazer at all with d60 front and 14 rear, I swore I saw one recently one ebay.
