Many kind and encouraging words so far, both verbally or without saying a word. When the wife and I go anywhere, be it at the store, a restaurant, or gas station, someone is usually standing there looking at her. Since I don't run with a hood, it's kind of like an open house I guess. Even had a lady looking at the engine bay say "that shiny thing sticking up there is pretty". Gotta love um

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I was in the Burger King drive thru, and the fry guy saw (and probably heard) my truck in the video monitor. As I pull up to the pickup window he comes running out, hangs halfway out the window and says "Damn, I love your truck! It's bad@ss!"

Lol... He was a 20 year old kid, and obviously missed the paint chip and crappy exhaust system, but whatever... it was nice.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I used to get alot on my 84 when it was on the road. Seems like everyone and there so and so had one or used to have one. Suprisingly the beater 77 that I am restoring gets even more complements then my all done 84. I think it is something to do with a rough project truck and the fact it is a stepside.................

My freinds like driving the 77 to because it intimdates others on the road... HAHAHAHHAA

Yeah It's funny sometimes, people would ask "where is your hood" and I say I this model didn't come with one, or I couldn't afford that option.

I think some prudes really hated the mising hood, which made it even more fun, so I ran it like that for a year rain, sleet and snow with no problems.
There was always a crowd around it, and I got asked "wacha got in there"
even more than with the hood on.
I will have to do that again on somthin, good times.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

Mine opened to mixed reviews after it was finished. Every time I take it out I hear something. Either they hate it or they love it, no inbetween. Especially now the running boards are on. I custom built those because all the store bought ones attach to sheetmetal and they aren't wide enough to actually stand on or sit anything on. Paint does catch your eye, heavy metal flake over black with 2 coats of perl. I like it, what do you guys think? Enjoy, Jim

I got compliments from time to time with my old '86 c-10 longbed. It was tan with rust in the usual places, but people still went out of there way to say something.

But then again, she's gotten me a few tickets too.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I have always gotten compliments everywhere I stopped, and the worst part was I knew it was actually good looking right after the restoration was done the first time, but then ten years or PA salt killed it, but people still always asked and said it looked good, and my response usually was Yes it did look good, and someday it will again.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

i get alot of "what color you gonna paint it" and the look on there face when i tell them the flat black is the paint is always priceless. also i get told in the drivethrus could you please turn your truck off so we can hear you.and when i leave a new mustang in a cloud of tire smoke they always say "damn what you got in that thing" and none of them believe me when i tell them its just a 305 with flowmasters.

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

The Black truck get a few comments ,compliments, and criticisms when I drive it . I listen to them all .
But , every time I drove this truck , it got compliments and looks every time I pulled in somewhere . It was amazing . I guess people are used to seeing short beds but a stock as a rock 3/4 ton was a conversation piece . I live in a more rural part of Tx and these trucks were King at one time . My dad gets the same treatment when he drives it now . It has the bigger wheels on the rear now and that is how everyone ran them back in the day . Factory hubcaps with the 33x12.5/16.5's on the rear mounted on white steel wheels . This truck draws comments .

Re: Do you get alot of compliments on your truck?

I still get compliments on mine all the time even as ugly as it is at the moment. I even have guys that will come up to me when I'm pumping gas etc., asking if I want to sell it. One guy at work asks me all the time if I'll sell mine to him. Restorable shortbed 4x4s are rare around here. Too many have been killed off with the road salt.

Even though there was a long production run on these trucks I think that it's due to the fact that they are constantly being crushed and destroyed forever that it is beginning to peak interest in these trucks again. You just don't see as many of them left around these parts as you used to that are in any kind of decent shape.

GM sure isn't going to be making any more of them either. Granted, they aren't as hard to find as a 67-72, which I still see a few of now and then around here, but they are getting scarcer by the day. I think that they will really come "into their own" within the next ten years or so since the 67-72s are drying up, and this generation is the next in line. ...Joe

Yea...I have gotten a lot with mine too. I have only had it a couple of months and have gotten a lot of compliments and several offers to buy...lol and it is kinda beat up looking with some rust spots...There's just something about these old square bodies. I love mine and wouldn't get rid of it for the world.
