Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth
In my opinion this is something that absolutely, positively has to be disclosed when selling. There are only two ways to prove originality, the original SPID, and the original build sheet. If you do not have the SPID, check the seat for the build sheet. Without either, it is very tough to argue, as a seller, that your cheyenne super/big block/tach/air/tilt truck is all original.
Please don't take this the wrong way. I am not saying you are trying to scam someone. But, imagine the surprise, when a serious buyer shows up to find that the option tag is gone. That could very easily kill the deal, and cost you and the would-be buyer some serious cash.

71swb4x4 is spot on ... without the option tag or build sheet it I'd say it drops the resale approx. in half.

it`s worth about $5,000-$6,000.a shortbed would be worth about 25% more.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth
I do realize that no option tag or build sheet does hurt value some but half I think is a little much.I know I asked for opinions and the people here know a lot more about these trucks than I do,other than all the numbers being correct how else can you tell it is or is not a factory big block truck.I guess the first dumb question is about the high hump floor.I did not think small block auto trucks came with them, plus what else can you check to prove that it is or is not a big block truck.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth
If you ID the engine block that might be of help. Normally when one replaces a motor they really don't care when it was made. I assume the block ID is date coded. The frame ID. I'm not sure if this is a date related ID. Just some thoughts. As far as value drop by not having the SPID...if I was looking for a numbers matching truck I would say yes...but for the guy who wants a BB C10...maybe it would not that big of deal. JMHO

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth
I just think not having the SPID holds it back from "top-dollar" status as an all original truck. It all depends on the rest of the truck just as much.A nice cloned truck can bring plenty good money and we`ve all seen that.Putting together a matched numbers clone makes a vehicle worth more than a non-matching as long as it`s built true to original.

Re: What is a 1972 Cheyenne Super Worth
High hump came in many trucks. All 4x4's had high humps. I believe four speed trucks were manual too, although I am not sure on that. Someone on here knows the answer to that. Truth-be-told, without the build sheet or SPID there is no way to tell. Have you looked for the build sheet? It is normally under the springs, either under the seat or behind the seat.
