When I was a teenager back in the mid 80's, a buddy of mine drove a 67 half ton long stepside. Of course I drove it from time to time, it was a straight six with a granny 4 speed. By winding it up and popping the clutch I could hop the front wheels over a pop can from take off. That old truck earned it's keep everyday, working and hauling, but was still fun to play with!

with the slicks I can launch mine pretty hard with the converter loaded but I never thought it could be done at 45-50mph

id love to get a big converter and some slicks for it... but for now ill just stick with my little radials.

those little MGBs sound fun. its really all in the setup... i once was at the track and saw a 4cyl mustang put it back on the bumper...

the 6000 rpm clutch drop, slicks, and 5.88 gears helped a little

you guys are making a big deal out of this, its not like i do this everyday i drive the truck, I take it to school everyday, and most days its driven like a gandma. I cant afford the gas, the tickets, or the hassel that comes with doing going fast constantly. its only thrashed hard on paved backroads with buddies on weekends, and hey, thats what its all about!

This is no different than taking a fast car to the track & the same thing happens. Wheels come off the ground all the time there. Sometimes stuff gets hurt, sometimes it doesn't.

As long as the driver/owner understands; drive it & have fun. If it gets tweaked (which is more likely on a front heavy vehicle), rebuild as necessary. I knew this was possible because I was able to do the same thing w/my 64 back in HS (stock suspension, 350/4spd, 4.11 rear) the exact same way. Roll-out in 1st, blipping the throttle to get a little bounce & then plant the pedal. If you stayed in it just right, it didn't come hard. If you blew it, OUCH!

I used to bounce the front of my GMC when I had the stock blown shocks and a culvert/drainage in one of the roads to my house.

Hit the dip at 10mph and play with the throttle while it bounced all the way to the stop sign at the top of the hill. Now I just have airbags to play with...

You're only young once and there's plenty of worse things than bouncing a truck.

in my eyes, this is not tearing up a nice truck. the body of this truck is immaculate, and i intend to keep it that way. it has never even seen a dirt road, a minor accident, or a door ding at a mall parking lot. however, I am 18 years old, and this truck is my hotrod. in my opinion, hot rods are built to be relentlessly beaten until broken, and then fixed and beaten again. the motor and tranny are far from original to the truck, and breaking parts is just part of the game. and this game i feel to be much more wholesome then out drinking or doing drugs. I took these pictures with my gearhead friends out with our trucks. this is a friday night for us, not out getting into more dangerous trouble.

I fully support your right to tear your stuff up, lot's of people do that when they are younng...But do not say you intend to keep the body immaculate, because you won't, or I should say can't. Not driving like that. please just make sure that the guy with the camera does not get hurt when your a arms give up the ghost, and they will, I know, I was 18 once too...But we did it in a true 1971 SS 454 Chevelle 4 speed, oh it would only make one hop though And turned into a turd quick. who knew what they were really worth?

+1 99.9 % of us on here have pulled a few stunts in our lives and surived. Just hope the video doesn't get in the wrong hands or you might be digging the old ten speed out of the shed again.

All I will say is that if you are going to squirrrel around, make sure that the guys on the sidelines are well out of the way and that everyone in your group can handle their car and the cars/trucks are in good shape.

My screwball niece killed her best friend in a street racing wreck less than a week after she got her liscense a few years ago. Too much power, too little brains an way too little skill. Sad part is that I would have taken her out to the local drag strip myself when it was running and coached her on how to run it safely with her sidekick standing beside me. Be safe what ever you do and make sure those around you do things as safely as they can.

Awesome man. I've done way stupider **** than that. Who hasn't jumped a car or truck? or done a burn out for 100+ft and when you let off your going 70? Or gone 155 on the hiway with 20 dollar used tires. lol

None are good ideas but lots have people done things like that when young (or not)

Back in high school, a guy had a late 70s ford truck. 300 6 with a 4spd. He'd do the same thing, would have the front end off the ground in the school parking lot. Every once in awhile it would throw the driveline out of it though. Would overextend and pull right out of the transmission.

when I was 16 my Dad had a 68 Dodge cab-over with a 225 slant 6 and a 3 on the tree. he had a load of rock in the back and I did the same thing. later that day he asked me "how did the rock pile get all leveled out?" I just smiled. hehehe

Some of the stories remind me of the guys in a little town close to where I live going out to what they still probably call schoolhouse hill and doing burnouts up the hill by letting the car coast backwards a bit while they wind up the engine and drop the clutch.
There is no telling how many cars got torn up or how many tires got left on that hill over the years.
