Re: bagging questions.
id still like to know how they work. i don't understand them.
Im using 1/2". Im not going to do the whole thing in copper anymore. Im going to go D.O.T air line all the way till the cab. Then the visible part will all be copper or brass or somethi8ng similar. |

Re: bagging questions.
Please..... 1/4" line will fill bags from deflated to ride height in under 2mins w/a small compressor. They may not be the 'trick' thing, but they will get the job done for those that aren't interested in playing around & just drive low all the time.

Re: bagging questions.
Never heard of such a thing. Looks like the manual switch opens a path from"tank to bag"when pushed in one direction and opens an air escape path"from bag" when push in another direction. Escaping air would come right out of the valve into your cab? Maybe theres a provision for routing the escaping air outdoors ?? Just guessing.
Imo,3/8 line is the seet spot. Last edited by Inverter; 06-21-2009 at 05:02 PM. |

And that 2 minutes is likely with ONLY a compressor (no tank). With 6 gallons of stored air, lift time on my truck is about 20 seconds. More than reasonable for anyone who's just trying to change the ride height.

Re: bagging questions.
Ok not to hi-jack here, but if you were use the Manual Paddle Valves wouldnt you need to get 4 of them to keep the air bags independent? If you only use two then the air would transfer between the bags, correct? At $80 for 4 of them and all the lines into/out of the cab is that really a deal? Just trying to get the info on this subject, seems very plausible for me.

Re: bagging questions.
My understanding of them is yes if you only had two for all four corners then it will be a very rough sloppy ride and you'll be all over the place.
Plus with thoose the air is being dumped right into the cab... My understanding of them at least that's what i assume. |

Re: bagging questions.
Ok cool, I found a pic of the back of them and it did look like it just has a hole between the 1/4" barbs to dump the air. I assume you could put another barb fitting in this hole and vent the air outside the cab if you got ambitious. Thanks for the info, maybe still a consideration....

The big thing is the minimal electronic issues when using paddles. There are more/larger airlines that have to be plumbed into the cab, but it's not a big deal when using 1/4" line. If using 1/2" line, I would go electronic & use solenoids. You can plumb a 'dump' line so the dumped air is outside of the cab.

Re: bagging questions.
I have the paddle switches on my 85. I have two 3 gallon tanks and two Viair 380 compressors. It will lift the rear from layed out to locked up in about 5 seconds. The front is not done yet so that may take a bit longer being that it is a lot heavier.

Re: bagging questions.
Ok thanks for the info guys, I understand that the solenoids are about $300 for an 8 pack, I was just concerned with creating more places to leak and it being inside the dash LOL Im not that concerned with it dumping the air in the cab, I have the bags simply for the ride and ability to alter ride height with changing weight etc. AVS JASON do you have any pics of your set up? I would be interested in seeing them if you do. Thanks again to all!

Re: bagging questions.
Do you think it would be best to run a 1/2" line into the dash and then split it to the (4) 1/4" supplies to the switches? I was thinking I could use bulkhead fittings at the firewall and then only have the (1) 1/2" and (4) 1/4" lines to deal with, any thoughts on this??

Re: bagging questions.
one of my buddies had 1/4 lines and paddle valves from way back and he ran it for a few years and didnt really have many problems. it is slow but it gets the job done. just dont expect to be able to hit any mad switches haha

Re: bagging questions.
"Hitting switches" is overrated anyways. LOL....
I would rather pull up to the stop light and be rolling lower then the other guy. Not jumping around, trying to have a dance off. That's just my opinion though... |
