UPDATE:
I went to resistor plugs 10 months ago & I haven't had a problem since. That includes a quick weekend drive to Lost Wages & return. So I'm guessing the non-resistor plugs were the problem. Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to give the plugs a decent run to make sure that they solved the problem.

What gap are you running on the non resistor and the new resistor plugs??
Higher resistance = higher voltage output from the coil = more wear and tear.
