I hate to say it, but no, we haven't talked about it yet. I can honestly tell you that I am not sure I want to give up control of them for a year or more with 2 trans-oceanic voyages and a third world country involved.

I can understand your feelings about all of that, but on the other hand paul is a real stand up guy.If he thinks it can be done, I would trust him.Paul said whatever it takes to make this happen.Like I said before if you need reimburst for your time and trouble I will help out the best that I can.Sell them to me or Paul,I'll sign what ever and when they get back I'll sell them back to you. That way if some thing did happen you wouldn't be out the cash.If everything works out like it should, just think of all the people that you would have helped out.You could restore all those burbs and panels that now usually get junked because they think they are to rusty and can't get parts. Please think about it some more. There would be alot of people indebted to you for your contribution to this hobby.Thank you for considering this. They may be the last remaning o.e.m.panels.I know you don't know me from adam, so email me or I will you. I'll give you my number or give me your and save the long distance. Thanks for your time.Roy Pitts

This needs to happen, I'm with Roy on this one, I know I can't really do much to help, but I'd do whatever I could. I need patches badly, and I know Roy does too, as do a LOT of others I'm sure. Have the dies made for those panels would be the greatest thing to happen to 67-72 Burb/Panel owners!
Think on it....it'd be a spectacular help to all of us that need those! ![]() 68

I can definately understand his hesitance in letting them go overseas and be gone for a year.It would make me nervous too.On the other hand, think of all the people it would help out.I trust gmc Paul to get them there and back.I've offered everything I can to try and help make this happen.I just don't want to get my hopes up and then it doesn't happen. If anyone in the south can find a wrecked one that the rear 1/4's can be cut out of ( backing panels would be nice too) I would buy them and send them if the price was right.Desert Rat do you know of any out there? Thanks, Roy

Those of you with rusty 'burbs, don't faint at this question ---
If we found a rust-free 'burb body, could we cut the quarter panels and send them off to outer mongolia (or wherever they go)? Wouldn't that basically do the same thing? What about on the driver's side if it were just the same amount of metal as on the passenger side - i.e. if I make a crew-cab out of a 'burb body and send off the stuff that got cut? Just wondering. ------------------ Bowen '68 K20 fleet '69 K10 swb fleet '72 C10 lwb step

Yes that would work.I have found one in Utah and one in texas.I just didn't have the heart to cut them up.Now I guess I have no choice.I guess the other problem is shelling out $500 to a $1000 for a body, then the expense of driving 2000mi. to 4000mi. to get them back here. Clean them up,get them to Gmc Paul so they can get shipped. If anyone knows of one cheap that would help. One catch they have to be almost perfect.Wouldn't want to have to have pay someone to staighten them out first.

I saw one in a junkyard about a year ago. I wonder if it's still there. I kept it in the back of my mind so that when I wanted to do a crew cab, I'd know where to look. Even had the third door intact & undamaged.

I would hate to see a burb get cut up. But if one burb had to die to save others, then so be it. The problem is finding a truly straight non rusty suburban with perfect quarters.

Since I work at a stamping plant this is interesting. To make a set of dies would be a time and major job.GM like others do sell the older dies for scrap. We just tossed old Mopar dies.I asked about swb sides when I started, none around cos companies only have service parts made during lenght of contract, thats why NOS is so hard to find.If I see the plant manager I'll ask if something like this could be done. He's a old GM man,he might know someone who could help.Give a few days to see what I can find out.Oh yea my service fee is cheap, why do you think they call me Weasel.LOL!!!!!

I am the owner of a panel that is in dire need of 1/4's....I can understand Kevin being hesitant as well, but think of all the burbs and panels that could be saved....
