shipping was around 150 or so. It showed up for a total of around 3100 or so, Engine is still running great, just went on its first real test drive, having some timing problems but i'll get it sorted out soon.

Tonight when I go back to work on it, (finish some minor problems, full throttle hesitation, gotta perfect the timing) I'll take a better video of it without wind noise, and possibly one of it on the road.

PS. you should want this engine, its nice

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Update : Well the truck has been home for its first week now. Engine is running very well, only problem is I haven't been able to resolve my timing issue. The Vacuum can collides with the intake manifold limiting my range of timing adjustment, so my timing is way retarded, I've gotten it to run by putting the vacuum advance on full manifold vacuum so it advances it a few degrees, allowing it to idle/part throttle good, but full throttle timing goes back to way to retarded, any one know where I could find a small (physically sized) vacuum can So I could clear my Intake manifold? I already tried one but it was bigger than the old one! Anyways video update time!

Re: Year One Crate Motor

you might just have to get a non air gap style manifold. They don't really make too many sizes of vacuum canisters. I would get an edelbrock rpm or professional products if you're on a budget. Or you might try moving the order of the wires and twist it in a way to make up for that

Just pull the distributor, and move it over a tooth.

I don't know why but I'm understanding what you're saying but I'm not. Guess the coffee hasn'y kicked in yet. basically pull it up rotate the cap or shaft put it back in and it should let me get into the right timing area? I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the dizzy but oh well If I have too

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Yeah, if it's hitting the intake or the valve cover, you can pull the distributor up and move the rotor position one tooth. If the canister is too far to the right (hitting the intake) Pull the distributor out, and when you drop it back in, make the rotor face a little more to the left (like a tooth or so). Now you've kept everything the same, but moved the canister out of the way. You'll probably have to go down the distributor hole with a flat blade screwdriver and move the oil pump drive so the slot will line up.

If this doen't make sense, have someone help

Re: Year One Crate Motor

Over summer school some girl took the bumper off her 90's grand cherokee on my original style bumper. It's curled at the ends being a stepside. And all it did was leave some little bits off that foam/rubber that's underneath plastic bumpers these days. She was hot, so I finished ripping it off for her, threw it in the back of her truck, and sent her on her way. Didn't hurt mine. If you don't want to take the distributer out of the engine, you can just move the spark plug wires by one spot and turn the distributor to make up for it...

Thanks Jim PA that makes sense I woke up late today, did a lot of work yesterday and my senses are just coming to me haha. If I can save up enough money I might just buy a MSD 6Al-2 programable ignition just lock out the distributor and plot your timing map and Presto! Perfect timing! haha then again I could just go outside and spend an hour to fix this

Re: Year One Crate Motor

So if the timing is too retarded I would move the wires over one in the counter clockwise direction correct? or would i go clock wise to get more advance?
