Re: New guy-1959 Apache questions

Deluxe package
As far as I can find the Deluxe cab is actually a Deluxe trim package.
1. Chrome front grill, bumper. Rear bumper if equipped would have been chrome.
2. A panoramic rear window although you could get that window without the deluxe package.
3. It would have had a radio. Again available without the package.
4. The heater was a fresh air Deluxe heater with the chrome controls not the standard in cab air or square box type. You could get the deluxe heater without the package.
5. Rear bumper was chrome.
6. E-Z-EYE Tinted Glass.
7. Custom Cab Interior with Cloth Seat, Arm Rests, Sun Shades. This item I think would not be optioned on a standard cab.
8. Rear view mirror.
9. Stainless cab trim around the windows.

Some of these could have been seperately from the package. There may be more to it but this is what’s on my truck that I know to be a Deluxe and from other sites that say much the same thing. As the years have gone by many trucks may have had owner upgrades from items in the option package. But I doubt it would be the reverse that one would swap out a custom interior for a stock interior. With that said I think that if you have many of the above items you may have a Deluxe. These deluxe trucks were also call boulevard trucks because of the blinged up look for the day.

Personally I wouldn't touch one of these as they use the economy a-arms with the lower a-arm support. I have one very similar to these on my '48 but it's the weld-in type. The lower a-arm support strut severly limits the vehicles turning radius as the tire hits the support thus becoming the stop/limit. Notice in every picture of this style of lower a-arm and not just from this manufacturer, they angle the photo so these supports are almost hidden because they suck. Parking lots are a hastle for me as I need to backup two or three times to angle the truck into the space.....they suck. Spend a couple of extra bucks and get a simple tubular setup and you'll save yourself some headaches down the road....literally.

Oh, did I say that they suck, that's because they suck!
DUDE U ROCKThats just the kind of Info I come on these sites for. The wife just does'nt find theHUMOR in getting screwed out of $$ on something that you thought you couldn't live withoutThanks for the heads up

I thought the "boulevard" designation just applied to the Cameo Beds?

Could be. I read somewhere that it also referred to the fleetsides but they could have been wrong. I did find out some interesting tidbits about cabs. I was very suprised to find out that there were more that 2 cab options and Deluxe cab was not the most optioned cab. They also had a Custom which I think most of us refer to as the deluxe cab.
They where the Standard cab, Deluxe cab and the Custom cab. From what Isee there was also a V8 cab and a 6 Cylinder cab. The difference being in the firewall near the Dist on the V8.

I'll compile the info and post it in a new thread.

Re: New guy-1959 Apache questions

Hey Grape,

Unfortunately I don't have an opinon about which IFS is the best for the money! I have heard good and bad about all of them (some more than others) but I don't like to beat someone down about their product unless I had problems with it myself. You need to research (google) some of the well known and bigger companies to see if there are common issues with their products. Also keep to the year of your truck model and don't listen to someone that had one on his Buick when your looking at a truck IFS.

I've found the internet is a great place to get information and sometime it actually applies to you!

Thanks.
I've been looking at TCI's, Scott's and Heidt's.
Leaning towards the Scott's as I want to run Shockwaves, but not set on anything.

Anyone have comments on the Scott's setup?

I'm putting one on my truck. I've only got the crossmember tacked in place right now. Also I'm going with bags not the shockwave. Iveldesigns and cajundragger have the scotts with bags on their running AD trucks. You might ask them how they like it.

Any reason you went with the bags instead of shockwaves?
I'm not sold on the shockwaves route, particularly at their price$.
Curious if there are any performance differences in the two.

Price was part and wanted the most travel I could get as I'm shooting for my panel to sit on the rockers.

Guys, any comments?

I talked to one of the Scott's guy today...think I'm going to go with the Superslam...more travel than the Shockwaves...but it is a lot of cheddar regardless.
