Where is the best place to look for a 327 block. I tried craigslist and there were none to be found around here ?

Its not a radio...thought it was a CB radio..not that either. It is a intercom which I have already removed and the stock factory cut-out is what was behind it , no hacking at all.

i am amazed at how many people are saying restore it/keep it original. Everyone complains that all they can find is long/fleet 3/4 ton trucks, and there's at least one thread a week on how to make a 20 a 10, or how to shorten a lwb...
I say do what ever you want with it. It's a clean truck, but not a rare gem or anything. After all, it is "just a LWB 3/4 ton work truck".

I have the air cleaner, I just can't find the screen element that was inside and soaked up the oil.

I'd see about making one if I had one to copy.

Were you able to find the element new, if so where did you get it?

Mine the element doesn't come out, its attached in a housing under the lid. You just flush it out with solvent and rinse, dry and put back on with new oil after cleaning out the crud in the base. There is also a plastic baffle for the oil, its just a ring that lays in the bottom and you fill the oil up to the mark on it. Good luck. Jim

I would say there are alot of people who are not really pickup people, they are car people priced out of the similar year of 67 thru 72 camaros and chevelles, and are looking to the next affordable 2 door. There agenda seems to be how to make a pickup perform like a mucscle car, not to use a pickup like a pickup.The lowered shortbed 1/2 ton is there icon.To each is own. That said, this 67 is a clean original truck that still has a lot of life left in it just the way it is.It was built to haul heavier loads than a shortbed 1/2 ton, and that was its main purpose in life to the original owner.The SPID shows quite a few options, but I can't make them out. This truck does have some interesting options like the oil bath and the factory "bus type mirrors", aka below eye line mirrors, tells me this truck was probably ordered by customer.

Yes, the truck was ordered by guy I bought it froms grandfather. The truck was ordered from the Nampa dealership here in Idaho according to the story the seller told. He said it was a tried and true farm truck, that is why he said he had ordered what was on the truck. I did some major cleaning today and also found all the original jack components. The only rust I could find was the surface rust you see on the outside. Checked the cab corners and under the rubber mat.....no problems there. I am sure in the next few days I will find a little more history.

I spent the day working on my 72 Cheyenne, getting it ready for paint. As I looked across the driveway at the 67 just wondering what kind story the truck could tell. It was kinda cool pondering what the possibilities might be. As they say everyone has a story!!!!!!

Congrats on finding a time capsule.

Agree with others - do what you want with it - it has seen some work across the years - but that's what a farm truck is for...or at least it was bought for that purpose -

Is the block so bad that it can't be saved?

I'd wait till you get the engine out, and disassembled before you look for another block.

Usually after a rod snap all you need to find is a oil pain, crank, and a new rod or two.

From the story he told you about when the motor gave out, it sounded like he wasn't pullin any high RPM's so it shouldn't be all that bad that you have to replace the block? To me it sounds like it starved it's self of oil for what ever reason, and spun rod bearings which caused a rod to let go.

I havent had a chance to tear into the bottom of the motor yet. I am working on getting to that next week. Getting my 72 ready for paint!

Well I was able to get under the truck today and start poking around to see how I could manage to get the oil pan off. I found three holes in the oil pan where the rod blew up. Then I went around to the backside of the cross-member and found remnants of the rod that blew still sitting on top of the cross-member. Looks like I will pull the motor and tear down to see if it is rebuildable. It would be nice if the motor could be salvaged and keep the original 327 in the truck. If it is not rebuildable then I guess I will hunt down a 350 block and take it from there.

Hey neighbor- Nice score! I must have missed that one on craigslist. Funny Thing about 3 weeks ago i saw a CL ad for rusted 63 Corvette -$200 And it was the 10th from the top. I ran for the phone- no answer-I walked back to the computer and the ad was pulled. Never found out about that one........Bubba

Started the tear down Sunday morning -- pulling off the front clip so I can get access to the motor. Saturday night when I was under the truck spraying down bolts with PB Blaster I found part of the piston rod that came thru the bottom of the oil pan sitting on the crossmember. I will keep my fingers crossed, hoping that it didnt toast the block. Anyways here are a few pictures of the truck.
