Thanks Jason, i was only just checkin your truck out!! I was reading all the comments about how far to lower yours, and i gotta admit (and this is from someone who usually slams his cars to the pavement!), you wont have to go ridiculously low to make it look sweet! Very nice job you've done on it!!

Re: Speed limit 60

I was a "ten pound pom" I lived in the Kingston/ Woodridge area when we first emigrated , then moved to Red Hill when I left home, this was back between 1973 and 1980.
I used to work a lot of venues around town like the Queens hotel, Pipps night club and the old Cloudland’s ballroom in Bowen Hills, the Playroom, Bombay Rock and the Jet club on the Gold Coast, we used to see rock and roll George cruising around town in his old Holden (as I remember it was an FC or FJ I) on most Friday and Saturday nights.
Lots of memories from those days but this is all ancient history and probably doesn’t belong here.

Re: Speed limit 60

Havent been here for a few weeks, so heres some updated pics of my 60. Myself and a few of the guys from my club decided to do a one day repaint, so i thought a satin finish of the original colour would be the go. So 6 hours later and $91 in materials we had it painted, pinstriped and some quick logos on the doors for a bit of an ol skool look.

Wow, love the door art. Great job.
And, if you don't mind a dumb question from a "yank," I thought I had heard that you couldn't tag a car in Australia unless it was right hand drive.

Re: Speed limit 60

Thanks Bill! In my state (Queensland), you can register a left hand drive vehicle but it has to be at least 30 years old. We can have either a full registration (unlimited use) or a concessional/club registration at a much discounted rate but restrictions on when/where it can be driven, and fitment of safety belts. Its pretty much the same in all states of Australia now.

Probably about 15 years ago I sold a Corvette to two guys (one in the US, one in Aus) and the US guy said he converted them to right hand drive and shipped them to the Aus guy who sold them there. That's where I heard that. I guess they had a business going where they must have made some good bucks.
It was a 87 Corvette and I guess it was easy to do the conversion on because of the completely digital dash and the rack and pinion.
Thanks.

Re: Speed limit 60

That would be right, this system has only been put in place within the last 10 years, but only for 'classic' vehicles of 30 years old or more, anything earlier still needs to be converted to right hand drive. There are quite a few companies in Australia that specialise in left to right conversions.

Cheers.

Thanks guys, we have a bit of a habit of doing one day repaints either leading up to a show or just out of sheer boredom. Got it down to a fine art now and ends up more of a social day than anything. You can just see a black customline in the background of the pics, that has actually been painted twice in 5 weeks! All in good fun!

We used a PPG CT etch primer, kind of a cross between etch and spray putty, comes in either white or grey. We used the white and just tinted it up with blue and green till we got close to the factory colour. It dries hard as a rock and has an awesome satin sheen to it. Its probably not the best for longevity, but its cheap and we've done 3 cars with this product before and they dont show any signs of failing whatsoever. If it does, we'll just do it again!!

Just out of interest, the roof is still candy green, we just 'wrapped' it with a high quality white vehicle vinyl as used in the sign industry. If i ever want it change it, just park it in the sun, peel it off and 10 mins later, the roof is candy green again!
