You know you are working on a classic truck when you need a shovel, spade and a shop vaccum to get the squirlle nesting out from under the seat to get to the bolts since the PO left the wing window open. Thanks Stevie.

Hell you know when you have wing windows to open.

You know when you use an old jack handle for leverage to remove bolts.

.....you remove the gas tank behind the seat and find a key ring (with 9 keys), a pocket knife, a 1/4" drill bit and a dead mouse inside.

(took a month to figure out why the damn fuel filter kept clogging).

.... When you goto order parts and you have to give the guy behind the counter 15 different years because you changed out nearly every part to something a bit newer except the sheet metal.

..... When removing a bolt requires a torch and some PB blaster because you haven't touched it lately or at all.

...... Wearing gloves not to keep your hands from getting dirty, but to keep the sheet metal from cutting your fingers off.

........ When the wife complains of the squeaky sound coming from the floor and you don't dare correct her that its actually the floor giving out not the spring in the seat.

......... When you goto a old Car/Truck swap meet and find parts that are 10 years newer than yours and when you ask for your year they say good luck.

........ Everytime I work on it I end up using a shovel and a bucket opposed to a dust pan and a broom to pick up the mess.

**** When you goto Napa and they pull out 3 books to find what your looking for instead of just the PC or one book.

**** Never having the parts your looking for in stock and taking at least a week to have it shipped in.

.....when you drive downtown and hear the sound of your side pipes banging off the glass of the buildings hehe..........
.....when u get a workout flipping a u-ee with the manual steering...
......when you are at a stop light next to a newer truck and all you got is a grin on your face.....thats style!!
....when you're driving and catch a whiff of gas!!

not to bust you guys but when your truck was built the speed limits where 70 mph that would make it .... 270 or 470 AC

Went one better with mine. Switched the heater fan on, didn't work, checked the grounds..... CLUNK, rattle, whirr, and THIS dropped out!

Guy who came along a few months later to get a bee swarm out of my chimney told me it's a mud-wasp nest.

And, you know you got an old truck over here, when they ask you what year F*rd it is!!

You find an old beer bottle (or anything else) in the back corner well and think about saving it for "nostalgia" but decided not to after looking inside and finding the petrified mouse.

i just took apart my whole a/c to get all those dirt dobber (mud wasp) nest out it.im sure there are some still in my truck just havent ffound them yet. I did however find the og key with the numper still on it

... You can rebuild a part rather than just replacing it.

.... You can take the truck completely apart and still find small things hidden.

....You can start it with out using the key especially the manual transmission crowd. Kill swithes are you friend.

....You reach under the dash and find an old key box with one of the original keys still inside and it still works.

The only plastic in your whole truck is the knobs on the dashboard and the window cranks.....

you have window cranks!

you don't know where your jackstands are because you don't need them !

the ignition switch is on the dashboard

it smells like mildew and gear oil

you can change sparkplugs with a box wrench

you can remove the valve cover with a screwdriver in 5 minutes

you know how to adjust valves

It has a wooden floor (suburban)

it has sat in your driveway for 20 years!

you have to check the oil..... in the air cleaner!!

you don't even have an oil filter

it was "upgraded" with shag carpeting... and its already worn out.

all the windows are cracked

it has something called "chrome" on it
